They were aiming to be open by September/October last I heard

I also heard Motorcycling Australia baught them, but the owners are still going to run the place though you will need an MA license to ride there when they open

dirt bike riding is not a cheap sport, if u have failed to realise this already, something wrong!

i think its great if u need an MA leicence, that should bring the entry price down a tad, as that was a big portion of the fee before.
and will probably keep alot of swappers outta the place.

but regardless, this is old news! yes the duck will be re-opening! not 100% sure when, just when everything is sorted and finanalised, yes MA bought a portion of the land only, i believe another private buyer is also a part of the equasion!

There's a partition thats going around for the re-opening of BDV, so that's a start, yes. Apparently it sold for $3mil AUD and the owners are spending another $1mil AUD on getting it back up to scratch. I doubt you will need a license to ride there though, because BDV isn't a motorcross park, but it isn't state forestry either, so it will be interesting to see what you will need to ride there. Hopefully you won't need anything, or at least anything hard to obtain.

Thats only if you want to purchase a life time membership. you can still pay the daily fee like it used to be.

Where does it say about the daily pass or fee's? I mustn't have seen that But $1100 initial cost, and 330 annual fee is far too steep. I rode the duck maybe 5x a year, but to use the pass and benefit you would need to go 35 days (at the old prices) to regain your initial cost? I wont be registering i know that much

Guys, yeah, its true about the $1400 to ride there, but thats a 12month ride license for the place. And yeah, I know, "omg thats f**ked!" but its what they have to do to start off with. If they were closer to Brisbane, I would possibly consider payin it because I could probably friggin live out there, but for somewhere thats a 2hour minimum drive from almost anywhere in Brisbane, its just not going to sell. They will eventually work something out for a day-pass thing or somethin of that nature, but looks like we're going to have to wait.

I stand corrected sir! I went back and looked again under the 'prices tab' although that was from sometime last year. ( im guessing it hasnt been updated )

I think there may be a few 'die hard' fans that may pay the money, but i doubt they will get the volume of people they once did.

Personaly i would go again as i didnt mind some of there trails and for a camping weekend away. Although at that expence, there is no chance.

bought a bike for a mate and the dude i bought it off went out there and said.. yea it opened 3 weeks ago now...yea he reckons it was all open to the public.. certain parts are still closed.. but yea he said majority is open again.... same owners different insurance and all that

my mate is good friends with the owner.
the reason they shut is cos there insurance ran out and no company would take them on/priced way to much because of the accidents in the past so the owners purely and simply cant afford to insure the joint any more.
on a slight up note gatton council have noticed the down turn in there revinuogh and are looking at ideas to open something very similar to BD or to assist them in any way they can to try re-open, but still the fact is no insurance policy wants to know them...

so we have to thank all the ignorant people that cant accept the concept of "ride at your own risk" and try and sue when someone gets hurt

yup, anyone that tries to sue because of their lack of ability should be taken out back an shot with their body strung up for all to see, the bastards are ruining our once very cruisy sport.

at least we still have motorcross mountain to go to, if it wasnt motorcross mountain i dunno wat i wudda done, forestrys and fines probly lol.

guys got a call today from the new owner of black duck. they are going to reopen it in the next to months if all goes to plain. the old owners still have a part of it but its just under a differnt way now. its not owned by ma like some thought, but u wont be able to show up on the day. u will have to pay a yearly payment of about 1100 bucks for a family, ur able to ride 7 days a week on this pass. its pritty much to stop randoms showing up once every blue moon and wrecking it for everyone else.....keep checking the black duck website for the new open day is and also to find out how they are going to run it and also the costing.

ill believe it when i see it about re-opening in the next few months, hope it does tho. also they will need to re-think the membership thing because they will lose alot of customers that just cant afford to outlay $1100 then $330(or whatever the fee's are) a years membership like is proposed now. bring back the old black duck valley

The customers they loose are the customers they dont want. They dont want the riff raff kiiling it again.
Its now turned into a business and as such will be run like one. it must make money and it must pay its bills. Its not open to please everyone as Love and joy dont pay the bills

thats not why it closed.... no one was sueing. if you had any idea how much it cost to send a chopper out or even ambo for that matter you'd understand why their insurance company didnt want to insure them anymore.... NO ONE tried to sue.

Your an idiot, sure there are plenty of swappas out there but if you know how and when to pass clean its not a prob. Whats the alternative do the sunshine state series pay a fortune for 45 min of riding and most of the people of there are full of there over rated ego and swap too, remember the best in the world swap every now and then. Everyone has to start somewhere or were you just born a pro.

Im just starting out riding i aint no expert but give it time, i just need a bit more practice and time on the yz.. Im looking for somewhere to ride like black duck does that make me one of these so called 'swappas'??

unfortunately it does mate and that means that ur not allowed to ride at these places or learn or have fun.
ya see he has probably had a lot of someone else's money poured into him when he was younger(mainly because he must not remember learning to ride) probably his parents and he's been given the opportunity to get good. and when he takes a little time off from teaching bubba n reedy how to ride he likes his tracks clean of anyone kicking around having a fun time even though they also payed their money. maybe you should get off the track n find a good viewing area n watch his greatness, maybe fetch some water or fuel for him when needs a break.

I was queensland champion mx back in the 80's growing up as a kid. I dont mind the park but it does get it's share of wankers that think they can ride also. I think i get more enjoyment these days watching swappas as you call them(WTF is that and what tool came up with that name) having fun and getting the basics down pat.

I think if your all "that" piss off and join a club and put a trophy on the wall. The amount of wankers that roll up and have the look at me attitude is amazing. And they cant ride for shit but think they can.

vlt 11 Hit the nail on the head, for every 10 k's that the chopper has too fly it works out at around 8000. And i know this for a fact as i have been air lifted off an island near Redland bay to the PA hospital and had i not beeen covered back then thats the bill i would have got.
