Hi, ive never raced at willow bank. But would like 2 know how 2 best best results there. Will semi slicks help heaps in a front wheel drive turbo'd pulsar? and how do launch's work with out boggin it down and near stalling it at start?.

the best tip you will ever get is to go to a test and tune prior and find out for yourself exactly what you need. if its breaking traction you will need slicks. if its bogging down you need to take off with more revs. also need to learn at what stage of the christmas tree should you drop the clutchfor best reaction time. as for stalling or spiking off of the line again the only way to find out is to go to a test n tune. (thats why they have them)

ok cheers mate. I'll look into the test and tune. Where im from we drag race on a airstrip, and its a totally different surface. cheers

willow bank runs alot of traction compound and gets hot in the day though qualify and real cold at night so yes it will be different

Semi's will help, slicks will be better (but they come with a free handbag). Hope you have spare driveshafts tongue.gif. Do you have a lsd?

Like 14MVL said, head out to a TnT to get some practise. I find that dumping the clutch is not the answer in a fwd. Hold your revs on the line and ride out the clutch. If it bogs down, then try more revs. If it wheelspins too much then try less revs.

When waiting for the lights, take your clutch pedal out as far as possible without engaging, and go on the last yellow.

Cheers

Cheers mate. yeh i was thinkin i might need some spare shafts. but i'll hav 2 c if it ready by then. i'll hav 2 wks to get motor in, get it engineered, get it rego'd and get it tuned. will be a very very tight squeeze. wont clutch slip if i hold the revs with clutch half out on yellow?

you do know that you have to pre enter if you wish to compete. Although theres abit of a rush in doing last minute tunes. Last year my car came off the dyno on thursday night, and then had to get it up to QLD.

That's a bloody tight squeeze. Something will go wrong and delay it, trust me lol. My only advice re breaking shafts is to back off when it starts tramping. I broke 2 shafts, a tooth off a billet gear set and cracked a bearing casing by driving through 4-5 runs of tramping in 1st gear. As far as your clutch is concerned, you have to find the point where it starts engaging, and hold it just off there. I have mine adjusted so that disengages as soon as a push in the clutch. It's probably not good for the throwout bearing, but I've got a solid centre clutch and dogbox, so I need to get that clutch in and out as quickly as possible (when I use the clutch that is tongue.gif). Also as crazy as it sounds, try holding the handbrake on a bit when launching.

Oh btw, my avatar is inevitably what will happen to your 3rd gear too hehe, unless you drive like a granny.

Cheers
