Incase you didn't know... Mark started from pole, ran into a Brawn, suffered a drive through penalty and still won by 9 seconds. Red Bull 1 and 2 with Massa in 3rd. First time in a long while the Australian anthem has been heard at a formula one race. Grats Webber and grats Red Bull.

Mark was broadcast live all over the world saying "F*cken beauty" over the team radio shortly after crossing the line.

WOW..............congratulations Mark.......... thumbsup.gif he got his first Career Pole and then did the job...........it is about time he got a break. Seems like he is at last with the right team and the right car. He has hung in for many years.......what persistence and what patience........remember all the disappointments of DNF due to mechanical problems......he is worth the big bucks biggrin.gif . Many people did not think so..........

biggrin.gif Mark Webber, 3rd in Hungary thumbsup.gif Good to see him on the Podium again. He is at last improving on his previous 6th and 7th places and DNF's......... cool.gif .

Hard to believe, but at the current rate, unless button pulls his finger out, webber could challenge for the title!

..............that would be good to see thumbsup.gif I reckon he needs rewarding for hanging in for so long and enduring so many mechanical problems, and non-competitive cars, that interfered with him being able to demonstrate his talent as a driver cool.gif

Not a chance. The only way Webber will win the championship is if all the drivers ahead of him has car issues during the race. Webber has no guts when it comes to challenging with a driver ahead of him to try n overtake them. Thats why he always does well during qualifying (no cars infront) but mostly fails during a race (cars a head of him).

I predict his team mate Vettel, is going to outshine him for the rest of the season like he has been throughout the start of the season smile.gif

............Michael Schumacher coming back makes the F1 interesting also. He is game getting back after a 2 year or so break. cool.gif I wouldn't think he needs the money? Also it wouldn't be for the points either.......lol........

I said challenge. He would have to be a bit lucky, have the car not blow up, and drive the pants off the thing and it still might not be good enough. But this season he has proven to be consistant, and thats what wins world championships

Webber world champ never only reason he got this far this year other cars not up to there potential he has a average car but no balls . Now the master is back for a stint we will see what webber has got too long in the tooth now he should of been doing this 5 or so yrs ago he`s really only a mid pack runner but u can only hope i guess. I rather see Will Power in a F1 car far better driver .

GOD! That was hard to read.

It's been a well known fact that even with substandard cars Mark has always punched above his weight, always outscoring his team mates. Now finally he has a car that can compete and he is doing what we all knew he could, compete and beat the best.

It's funny how you're calling Mark (33) old in the tooth when MS turns 40 this year.....

Will Power a better driver? What makes you think that? Sebastien Bourdais won the Champ car title 4 years in a row and could never get the hang of F1, he constantly got out raced by rookies Vettel and Buemi.

Stick to what you know, that's clearly not F1.

"with substandard cars Mark has always punched above his weight, always outscoring his team mates." ??

I assume that you are referring to his qualifying times? because you can't be referring to his actual race times....
Any F1 driver can push out a fast time during qualifying as long as they have a good car. But there is a difference with qualifying and a actual race situation. A truly good F1 driver will have the balls to actually overtake a driver infront of him or push him hard enough for him to make a mistake. He also needs to have enough skills to not make a mistake if the guys behind him is pushing him to make one.

Webber can push out the great times during qualifying. But when it comes to the actual race he doesn't have the balls to pass the driver infront of him, and in some instances makes mistakes because drivers behind him push him towards it... I respect Vettel because he has the skills that Webber doesn't have.

Good luck to him for the rest of the reason, but i can't see him even coming 3rd by the end of the year, since it looks like the richer teams are starting to show signs of winning due to better aero kits.

I think Mark has had a poor Qualiying record this year, pass years he has been great.

During his stints with Jaguar, williams and redbull he has outperformed his teammates (heidfeld, rosberg, coulthard) in qualifying and races. Numerous times he was up in the top 5 before mechanical gremlins took him out yet he still finished with more points.

Clearly you haven't watched the Formula 1 season this year? Webber has been one of the most aggressive drivers, his drive in the wet at Malaysia. His drive in the wet in Shanghai passing Button around the outside, what about his duel with alonso down the pit straight at Catalunya? Switching back to dive down the inside? He has probably passed more then anyone else this year.

Go watch some races thumbsup.gif .

i agree
mark is well known for being one of the most aggressive drivers in the field, it has been proven many times this season that the red bull car performs poorly in dirty air making passing that much more difficult (not that it has stopped mark pulling off some crazy shit, see spanish grand prix mark vs alonso), this is why it has been a tad harder for them to pass after following a car after a certain amount of time this year.. all though i do believe button has this one in the bag unless he fucks up the next few races and scores no points, then it can really be anyone's championship

Pass years Webber has been great? Since when? So the pass years he has actually win races? Oh Sorry, he won his first race this year.

He has outperformed his team mates? yes he outperformed Heidfeld. As for outperforming Coultard, thats not hard since he was just there for the extra cash before he retired. Any driver could outperform a retiring driver tongue.gif
As for him outperforming Rosberg, you are wrong. As Rosberg got used to F1 (and the williams car), he started outperforming Webber, hence he kept his seat in williams, and Webber did not get his contract renewed. As for his team mate this year, until Vettel's car started playing up in the last few races, he was outperforming Webber in every way.

Webber is aggressive? LoL and great I the wet? LoL!!!! Are you getting confused and think he is Schumacher ?

The only time that you rarely see Webber pass anyone is normally down the straight when the other car is slower then his. Other then that its rare that you see him passing other around corners because he doesn't have the balls.

Like I said before... For him to be 2nd in the standings right now is because the top teams/drivers are performing poorly. As you saw in the last race, the top teams/drivers are coming back and by the end of the year i predict Webber isn't going to be even close to being in the top 3 standings and his team mate Vettel is going to be head of him.

You need to actually watch races from the previous seasons to see what I am saying it correct and stop thinking just because you've been watching every race this year your a Webber expert.

When Webber first got into F1 people were saying that he is going to be the next Schumacher... That still cracks me up.

I don't think anyone said he was going to be the next MS when he made his debut, who said that???

I have been watching Formula 1 since 94 so I have "some" idea.

QUOTE

Wrong.

Williams offered mark a substantially reduced salary and he was advised by his manager, Flavio to turn it down and look for another seat, which he did.

QUOTE

??? For the cars he has had, which were pretty much piles of crap, yes, he has fought above his weight. His cars were no where comparible to the Ferrari/maclaren. Most experts said that given a competitve car he could well fight for a championship.

Look at Hamilton, give him a good car and he wins, if the car is a dog he is fighting for the last 5 positions. Are you going to tell me hamilton is shit because he has been competing for last place? No! It's all about car development and whether your team can produce a competitve car, something Mark has never had and now he does. Maclaren and Ferrari are in the same position as Redbull/williams/jaguar were in the old days, hell, williams is still down there.

QUOTE

LOLOLOLOLOL, have you followed Mark Webbers career!!?!?!?! How many times did he DNF because of mechanical problems? What about when he was 3rd at Monaco in 06 with a shit shit williams car and DNF'd because of the exhaust burning through the wiring loom. Or running 4th at Malaysia before a hydrolics failure, also in 06. I could go on..

QUOTE

Sigh, Again, watch his drive this year in the wet, remember his tussle with Hamilton in Malaysia? he also passed Alonso, Heidfeld, Trulli before the race was red flagged and I already bought up his pass on button around the outside (in the wet) at china. Oh and what about last year when he was running 2nd to hamilton and catching only to be taken out by vettel under the safety car.

Mark was even critised for being too aggressive by Eddie Jordan when he drove for Jaguar.

Clearly you have something against him, which is ok, but don't belittle his F1 career with false statements.

I have never compared Webber to Michael and never will, clearly Schumacher is in a league of his own but Mark is a very good driver who has had bad cars and bad luck his whole career, until now.

Well said, & I cannot believe Blitz is actually serious in what he is saying..... Even from a wins basis Mark was leading the race on merit in Australia in his 1st year at Williams until the car blew up (1st of many Williams disappointments). As for his strong qualifying (which at least Blitz admits to) if it was EASY to get a fast single lap time out of a f1 car DON'T YOU THINK THAT HIS TEAMMATES WOULD DO IT TOO???

FFS even James Allen has become a convert, crapping on about Mark's "fighting spirit" and how when he wants to get past a car, nothing can stop him.....

Also if its mark that can't overtake why has Vettell spent 2 races behind a slower car without being able to overtake it Massa at Germany being the most recent...??? I'm dying to here this explanation Blitz.. Oh remember that Adrian Newey has himself stated that the red bull cars aero is particularly upset behind another car compared to other teams, and yet Mark still manages to overtake whilst wonder boy Vettell does not???? Hmmmm your comments reek of BS Blitz.....

Blitz I suggest you have a read about some of MW & the teams recent admissions re: how much his leg has affected him through the 1st part of the season & how he is performing now with the pins removed........Oh & Red Bull must have been disappointed in him to re sign him too, musn't they??

Wow Blitz & I actually thought you were an intelligent kind of guy when I 1st met you. That you think believe yourself to be speaking the truth is downright freaky, & honestly it freaks me out because it makes me wonder what other strange fantasies are going on in "Blitzland"???? ph34r.gif

Oh well, we will see who is wrong come the end of the season I guess. thumbsup.gif
