i think you will find the the n/a sr20 or a ca18det will be the biggest you and get passed

there is a company on the web that makes the conversion kits for both engines into the little beast... but I aint ganna advertise them here. They are expensive.

I have a 1200 ute with a fully work a15 motor with twin webber and a 5 speed box and have a lot of troubble getting traction in the wet. i recon stick with the a series or even the l20, l 18 or l16 its is by far the cheapest way too go and still bucket lots of power. Then you can always turbo them if you want more

CA-18DET are getting hard to get in good condition front cut. Plus if you are going to go to the trouble of fitting a CA-18DET why not go the extra yard and fit the far superior SR20DET. MADDAT do a SR20DET kit for 120y as far as i know... dunno about price though. CA-18DET = 134kw stock, SR20DET = 153kw stock ( red top s13 version ). do the math...
More aftermarket support for SR20DET motor, more mods and at the end of the day more power and strength.
FJ20DET would be another way to go too, but its sorta in the same boat as the CA18, getting old and harder to source.
Seen RB20DET in a 120y, that would be a bastard to fit i reckon.
