does your current hilux motor have front, mid or rear sump? my lux had rear sump which meant vr v6 sump was right on top of the crossmember. but cut, shut and strengthen and it fits good. tunnel was tight but able to maintain 16mm everywhere for both motor and auto box so manual should be able to party in there. modified xf engine mounts to get the motor low enuf. stock hilux gearbox mount with vr rubber. split the uni to use vr yoke with stock toyota tailshaft. bcm was a bit tricky to work out but vn dont have it? cut and shut vr zorst to fit in lux. 3/8inch fuel supply line and stock hilux line as return. vr fuel tank with in-tank pump fit nicely. this is in a 1975 rn25 which is physically smaller than yours so room shouldnt be much issue. and people will say "why bother" but then take them for a run and see their attitude change when they realise your lux is 500kg lighter than their commodore. cheap cos u got most of the gear already. check bout brakes tho. i'm not sure bout disc brake lux but i replaced my front drums (!) with 87 crown discs and calipers.
i did it cos i fucked my 12r and had a complete vr wreck sitting right there and said "id be stupid not to". no regrets.
gl with it hope this helps.

oh just read it is 4x4. mine is 2x4 so i dunno bout transfer case adaptation but sump clearance shouldn't be an issue smile.gif

hey mate did it to my 91 single cab 4x4 really easy to do

1 have u got a series 2 engine if not its a pain in the arse to do since the thermostate is at the back just not much room for the transfer pipe

2 http://www.marks4wd.com/products/engine-tr...esel-index.html

3 u will need a bellhousing kit, clutch kit and fly wheel kit, engine mount kit, tacho interface kit, hall effect speedo kit, fuel pump kit, surge tank kit (optional), and dont skimp on cooling this is the trouble i had and took me ages to sort out ended up with the marks kit. jst email marks 4wd with month/yr and wether your toyota 5 speed has a chain or gear driven transfer case and they will do the rest u can get away with some of the gear they for instance i didnt use a surge tank at all and never had a problem with fuel starvation.

if u do it yourself start to finish it should cost u easily under 5g i spent 6 and u have the engine and box allready.
the marks instructions are simple as to understand and everything fits properly

as far as conversion wise at the time was the best around really and again simple to do and was good power upgrade i ran the auto in mine and loved it apart from it blowing them from my cooling problemcooking the oil.

i know am fitting a 1uz-fe into my new lux and is by far the better option for not much more really.

yell out if u need some more info mate

cheers

Yep .I have the v6 3800 conversion in my Rodeo did it 10 years ago. It is slow back then and is very slow now and I had (150hp) Nos on it.

I think a V6 supercharged, 1uz-fe or 2jz would be a lot better if you are going to do a conversion but up to you and by the way I have a V6 supercharged up for sale.

series 1 will still work good thats what mine was to start with then i converted it using a series 2 manifold just had to drill out the heads in acouple of spots for the allowance of coolant passages.

with the series 1 just make sure u spend the time and money for that matter on the transfer pipe from the thermostate to the radiator i made mine outa of 38mm stainless pipe and tigged it together its a bit of mucking around because of the battery and power steering pump pulley are close (if u are using an n 70 size battery) but made it work ok.

i also ran msd ignition coil packs on mine aswell and i think i could feel a noticable difference in power and fuel economy.

my votes still on a 1uz conversion lol

again mate yell out if u need some ideas etc

cheers
