Anyone here know where I can get a copy of the Australian building standards, more specifically to do with fire exit doors, frames, exit signs and locks, even things like what type of fire extinguishers are needed, where they have to be mounted. Also for what areas they can be used like if a small shop has different standards than a larger shop.

Tried google with no luck, will try give the fire station a call tomorrow as they should be able to point me in the right direction.

Did you try google the Australian Standards website dunno.gif
All aust standards are on that site however they must be paid for to access them..
You could pm riphsv on here and see if his work place can help you (deals with fire systems etc) or if you are a business then the Chamber of Commerce can/should be able to help also. smile.gif

Yep, looked on the BCA webite, from the looks of it the standards are all in sections and have to be bought seperatly, just need to find out what sections have what I need before I go buying them.

Also Mark, phone me about your shed, I NEED shed space smile.gif

Just a few things I need to know for work, had a customer that was threatened with having their shop closed down for not meeting the standards, but I knew that who ever inspected it was wrong and didn't know what they're on about so I want my own copy of the building codes for next time. Found that there is an ofice in Cavenagh house for answering questions about the BCA so I got to have a look at their books to see what I need so I should be all sorted now.
