ok, i know its not car audio, but i do use it in my car, so.

I had my ipod hooked to my computer, (80 gig from 2 years ago) and went to synk it or whatever the fuck it is, and it said cannot complete, error code 50. now i cant find what an error core 50 is, but now my ipod just turns to the apple sign (like when you reset them) you can hear the drive trying to work, for about 10 seconds, then it goew pewwww and turns off.

Is there something i can do, or is it just dead?

Becides sending it to apple to get it fixed, im not paying 250 to get the fukker fixed.

after it goes peww it does it all over again.

rooted. welcome to ipod. i stopped selling the booldy things cos of the ridiculously high fail rate. not worth the hassle for the $5 you make retailing them.

Could be your battery. Did your ipod go flat and turn off when you were syncing? And did anythink out of the ordinary happen?

Also does the screen fade out when it resets, or just cut out really fast? And does it charge if you plug it into a computer?

I've had to pull mine apart a few times to many, I don't even need to use a tool to pry it apart now lol.

um, battery was damn close to flatt when i pluged it in, it was in for about a hour, went to synch, said error code 50 and when it resets it fades out, and comes back on bright, batterys dead atm, connect to power comes up when you press play, charging screen comes up, but unplug it and it does the apple trade mark thingo again.

you can buy replacement batteries for them failry cheaply nowadays - and it even comes with the tool to disassemble your ipod. Might be worth a shot if it brings it back to life?

reckon you could point me in the right direction?

If you could somehow restore your ipod, that could work. Only thing is you will loose all data on it. If it still syncs fine to the computer, you could try re installing the firmware with itunes. You may have to restore it first, I'm not sure how the process works, hardly synch mine these days.

I had a similar problem. My iPod wouldn't switch itself on and kept continually resetting itself when I tried doing so.
Try starting your iPod in Disk Mode, reset your iPod (Centre + Menu) & straight away press and hold Centre + Play. The timing of this is crucial, you need to get Centre + Play pressed just as your iPod starts kicking back into life once you've reset it.

Once in disk mode the iPod should be recognised by your PC, try reloading firmware using iTunes 7 and see how it goes...
