So occasionally I switch my 60gb release model PS3 between the 32” LG in my living room to the 22” Samsung LCD in my bedroom . So yesterday I switched it over and booted the PS3 up, and I am greeted with the usual boot tune, but with a weird random colored screen. I examined what was occurring and thought the HDMI cable just had a bad connection, so I powered down the console, fiddled with the cables and did the screen reset where you hold the power button down till it beeps twice. The screen returns to normal and I think nothing of it, but it suddenly returns to what it was before. The XMB is slightly visible in the background, but everything else is just random green, red and some blue. I take it back into my living room and hook it up with the HDMI cable again and do a video output reset, it does the same thing it did when it tried in my bedroom. My next thought is that the HDMI cable that was being used has been destroyed because of the moving between rooms. So I try the RCA cables like that used with the PS2, same problem. Now I am certain its the PS3 that is at fault. The graphics card is the culprit in my mind, but it might just be an unsecured connection. Luckily the console is still under warranty with EB games and I should get a refurbished console within about 4 weeks. I'm quite pissed off about this because it happened at the start of my 4 week holiday and this is the second broken system.

Has this happened with anyone else? Is there a fix that does not require opening the console?
Here is a picture.
