I find the ab wheel is the best but sometimes can give you a sore back. Really feel it working.

Situps dont seem to do much in my opinion, anyone else stuck to a particular method?

standing overhead lifts

I found the AB roller when you can stick to it, i find the sore back plays on my mind a little and stops me doing it all the time
synergy

u want a flat stomach, eat right, if you want a stronger core, planks side planks, deadlifts and squats n pretty much every compund exercise will help it become alot stronger

Goes without saying. Basically what exercises your mid section stronger. I do incorporate core based exercises in what i do but i hate it lol.

I eat heaps of monte carlo biscuits. Does the trick.

oreo's are better

I find dead lifts and squats help. Need alot of good core strength to do them properly

And over head rope crunches. As in kneel infront of the weight stack with the rope hanging above your head, and pull down. Sets of 15 with a heavy weight has worked a treat for me, rather than tens of useless crunches and the like

Dont be afraid to add load to your ab exercises either, instead of doin numerous reps of body weight, add a load abs love it just like the rest of your body, abs also recover quickly so go hard.
Dont forget diet is most important along with a good workout with compound exercises.

examples of ab exercises:
Hanging Leg Raises, Bicycle Crunches, V-Ups, Knee-Ins, Crunches, Leg raised twisting situp, Lying Leg Raises, rope crunches, woodchops and so on.

Is the ab wheel really all that good?

I'm currently trying out kevin leverone's out ab workout, well one of them. He was doing 100 rope crunches in a row. First week I did 30kgx100, next week was 32kgx100, half way through second weeks set I was really feeling abs getting smashed.

Abs are made in the kitchen, everyone has them, they are just covered in fat.

Ab exercises will make your core stronger (so will squats and deadlifts) and give you a better posture, but if you really want to see your abs, go on a diet and throw in some cardio if you want.

People can find this counter productive though , especially if your hitting the weights to gain weight.

i think the best thing to do is run till u cant run anymore... everyone has abs , theres just a small layer of flat stopping them from looking ripped. if u run u will loose weight, resulting in trim abs... dont buy any ab work out machine they are all shit.
i think someone said above that that using weights was a good i dea... i 100 percent agree with that. if u want to get a bigger chest u wouldnt just do push ups all the time, u would increase the weight
so yer thats my spin on things?

I'm surprised russian twists haven't had a mention yet, med ball slams are another good one aslong as you squeeze your transverse abdominus.

Don't follow synergys diet tips, oreos will make you fat mamoru.gif

I found out the hard way tears.gif

Just kidding.

But basically you can do sit ups, crunches, hanging leg raises, whatever for as long as you like. But until you lose the fat from around the mid-section, you won't really see your abs.

the ab set i do is:

20 normal situps
20 right elbow to left knee (put your right hand behind your head and left foot on right knee and then make your elbow touch your knee)
20 left elbow right knee
20 right side situps (lye on your left side and do situps using the muscles on your left side to lift you up)
20 left side situps
30 leg raises
then i do as many situps as a i can with my legs off the floor and parallel with the ground

oh and there is no rest between sets, just get down and do the whole thing

Haha remember the belt set up of this that was advertised and sold as an ab machine. No more doing back hurting crunches, you can wear this belt and do your ab workout while sitting in front of the tv.

Those machines are good for injuries though, some physios use them. I had this chick physio once and she put the electrodes on my forearm for an injury I had, switched the machine on not realising it was set too high, and my arm started jumping around uncontrollably mamoru.gif

Was the weirdest experience.

hahaha it's a good set isn't it. By the end im usually rooted. The elbow to knee ones are the hardest by far but if you make sure your doing them properly they smash your abs so good.

Yeah I was looking for that specific one, my Auntie bought one for herself, needless to say it didn't work. Lazy people are such a marketers dream, I think i'm going to change my profession.

I think we need to start a thread on useless exercise gimmicks/machines.
