this might be a stupid question BUT do you need to have your car/ute or whatever engineered when you have bags? and when bringing a car in from the mainland with bags does it need to be engineered here if it has one in another state?
just a simple question no need for cockhead anwser.
cheers robbo

Just would like to say that I believe you cannot currently get a bagged vehicle registered in the state? correct me if Im wrong. there may be a loophole if you have a secondary suspension setup but just bags on their own is a no-no

I think its pretty well impossible to get a car with bags engineerd, let alone regoed, on of the minitruck guys will know for sure though.

Just a stupid question is it a mini truck with bags or a Car with Air cans? cos normally if its got cans the suspension is reversible......not that I would recomend putting stock suspension back in for rego and then put the cans back in afterwards

dont bother with bringing a ute over unless it looks standard as u might get it roadworthied but first chance cops have they will defect you and u might aswell put it on the market to the mainland again cos you will struggle selling a defected bagged truck here. just find a nice static slammed truck on the mainland..some really sweet ones around on ebay lately

yeah cheers ive been having a look around but just seen ppl saying engineered and un-engineered about the bags so thought id ask.
BAGSIT

it can be done and is easier if the vehicle has engineers from the mainland it does help
few things are it cant go lower than 100mm at any point of the vehicle which makes it pontless really
you aren't meant to be able to change the height while the vehicle is driving
and i think you might need a self leveling system so when the vehicle starts it raises to a set height ( normally the legal height )
saying these things though ive had a few bagged vehicles and never had any problems with the popo it just depends on how you are going to drive it ( dragging the vehicle on the ground throwing sparks looks good but shows alot of negative attention towards you and all other truckers, bagged vehicles so is frowned upon through the middle of town so find a backroad or private place )
in saying all this bagged vehicles look nice and can be fun just make sure the vehicle you look at has a decent bag job as you get sum dodgy ones out there as i know from experience
and static dropped utes look just as good and are usually more practical to use in the tub area depending what you want it for
cheers

ha you just answered my next qustion about being engineered from other states.
as much as id love to have a bagged ute i cant really afford to pay to have it engineered and i dont want to have the cop trouble with the bags, so i reckon ill just find a nice static drop ute. cheers for the help guys

It can be done provided you have a failsafe setup incase a bag lets go. its very easy to do a dodgy job so i wouldnt trust just anybody, if u want an airbagged car get a celsior, they are auto too

Jun 9 2009, 11:30 PM
yeah id love a celsior but i dont have that sorta money at the moment haaa
so a ute is what im really after. will hopefully find some soon

I dont mean to be rude but u wont find a bagged and engineered ute for less than a celsior

Minitrucks, bags and Tasmania = one massive headache. If its engineered in another state, its very possible to get it passed by your local clueless inspection station, but once transport/vehicle standards get word of your existence, they will tear you off the road and most likely demand the ride be engineered in Tasmania. The NCOP isnt consistent I swear, Tasmanian are definately alot stricter on the rulings. As said about, a self levelling system is required and the cheapest of those is $1350 uninstalled.......plus bumpstops and not be able to adjust the rides suspension whilst vehicle is in motion...so if you wanna roll ya ride without looking in mirror peaking every minute, scope out some static trucks, one with a nice engine coversion would be siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick!
