huge fan of the PSP as it links up pretty well with my PS3...

but i havnt bought any games for it as i spend all my pennies on PS3 games...

is there any way of ripping games, movies etc onto the memory stick...
Stuit
yeah you need to downgrade the firmware, just do a google search and youll find a million and one pages telling you exactly how to do it.

i would do it but that would mean i need to use my PSP, and its just $hit so im not going to do that laugh.gif
Chris
I swear Sony killed Stuits dog or something...

There is heaps of firmware hacks available, why can no one use Google these days?
Really, i typed PSP hacks into Google and found heaps of good sites.
Might hack the one i got for free years ago...
Stuit
they over-promised and under-delivered too many times for my liking.

Its the best hand-held gaming system IMO.

no, the lack of good games and PS3 integration make it shit smile.gif. UMDs were a complete failure, they have horrible load times and drain the battery quickly. the dpad is horrendous, sony even admitted a design flaw with it that made it near impossible to do diagonals on the PSP-1000 models.

the DS is better IMO. and yes, i have them both, just like i have a 360 and PS3.

Good games? PSP has much better games compared to the DS IMO...
I agree with the UMD being a failure, but what were they to do?
I honestly dont think there is a way for making the PSP-PS3 integration any better, why is there that is needed? PSP TVout to PS3 would be good actually..

I dont like the config of the controls either, my hands get pretty cramped up on the thing.
Stuit
the problem with the PSP games are that none of them are games that are made for a PORTABLE system. when i play my PSP or DS it was because i was on the train or bus or something, and needed quick loading, quick saving, quick little level games because the trip might only last 5-10 mins. the DS has many of these games, the PSP doesnt. sure i might like the PSP more if i sat at home with it plugged into the wall playing the games - but why would i do that when i have the PS3 and 360 sitting there?

Fo realz, was about to post something like that. I havent got either, but looking to get one soon and it'll be a DS.

To me the PSP is just a system designed for companies to flog off popular PS game franchises onto. As stuit mentioned the main reason people get a handheld console is to fill in time on trips etc, for stuff like that you want quick, interesting casual games to just load up to fill in a bit of time. IMO the psp doesnt really have much like that, where as the majority of the DS's game catalogue is basically designed for that purpose.

On first look the PSP does seem like the "cooler" console that you'd have more fun with, but looking into it more, once you get over the whole "ds's are for kids and girls" thing, its a far better console.
GreekWarrior
but I use my psp to watch movies and shows and stuff more than play games (I mainly use it for the bus as well)

BozzA
You're doing it wrong then! That is one plus the PSP has, but personally i couldnt see myself watching tv shows or movies on a 4" screen when i could just watch them when i get home.
Chris
Can the DS even play music?

Would prefer playing GTA or something over Mario.

The worst game ive seen for the DS is that tap to the beat game, TV ads for it and all. Looks like the stupidest fucking game ever.

DSi can, dont think the older ones can. You do realise that GTA: china town wars is on the DS?

Have you seen Chinatown Wars? Looks pretty shit IMO, compared to Liberty City Stories or Vice City Stories.

How much do PSP's and DS's sell for these days?

Yes, ive also seen the horrible looking GTA: * Stories games. Chinatown Wars has a metacritic rating of 94, pretty much making it one the highest reviewed games for the handhelds.

Around $280 for PSP-3000/DSi, or $180 for the DS Lite.

I dont go much on other people ratings. But comparing the gameplay of * Stories games and Chinatown Wars i think i would much prefer to play the Stories.

Still $280 for a PSP, would rather buy a second hand 1000-2000 so it is hackable. Free games would be awesome.
Hows the hacking scene for DS's?
Chris
Just bought a pandora's battery now.
Stuit
GTA Chinatown wars is awesome.

plus, the battery life on the PSP is absolutely $hit - looking at 3-5 hours gameplay time if youre lucky. with the DS i get probably 10-15 at least.

Nope. No hacks for the 3000 yet.

Pretty good actually, R4 revolution, amongest other ones you can sill buy on ebay. They allow .nds files to be dumped onto a miniSD card and played on the DS. But the DSi on the other hand is much the same as the PSP 3000, not very hackable.
GreekWarrior
can you put porn on the ds? cause you can with the psp

do you masturbate on the bus/train? if not, why would you want it on your PSP/DS?

if so, gtfo.
Chris
Lolbump.

Got 5.00M33-6 on my PSP Phat.
Shits pretty awesome, downloaded most of the new PSP ISO's and they all play very well besides GTA Vice City Stories which is a bit laggy.
Installed SNES9x so i can play some mario, also some custom themes for ricerness.
When PSP games average $50, $9 for a pandoras battery is pretty damn good.
Stuit
anyone buying the PSP Go! when it comes out? my word, sony have lost the plot. its an absolute waste of money.
GreekWarrior
I reckon, the only reason they're releasing it is to try and promote sonys online market and to compete with the iphone

dunno why they're bothering

better off waiting for psp 2

You can just turn off the PSP and it will come back to exactly where you left it.

Who catches a bus/train for 5-10mins? Walk, you lazy bastard wavey.gif

yeah, but chews up battery life the whole time its on standby. if you completely turn it off, it doesnt come back to where you left it.

It will last weeks in standby mode.
Stuit
certainly not the results that ive had when ive put in on standby myself. i take first hand experience over second hand any time.

You probably have a faulty / worn battery.
Something is wrong with your product, so obviously everyone else's is the same, right?

well i get the standard 3-5 hours battery life while playing games, so theres nothing wrong with my battery. maybe firmware updates changed the battery life in standby mode, as we're up to like 5.08 or something iirc?
