i'm looking for a shiny hatch that has go and is reliable.
'98 and up.

until now holden have not made small cars for 30 odd years. 98 model and up I would be looking at a Corolla reliable a reasonable amount of poke for a small car, comfortable and good on fuel. Dont look at small holdens cos they are opels or later on they are daewoo's too pricey to work on or too unreliable. Like mookie said Civic they are a very decent car. Civics will have more aftermarket support if you want to rice it up

for around $10k you could grab a '07 plated Barina. Bit more than your willing to spend but thats pretty cheap for a late model car, go pretty good for what they are as well.

dpends how small a car your looking for but you can pick up 01 or later subaru impreza's or forester's for under 10g if ya look around and they are good reliable and safe cars with heaps of aftermarket support

hatches will fit a fair bit in them, i recon i could fit more crap in my mirage than my camry or cressida
or get a kei car, be different, you will get friggin sweet fuel economy, and be driving a box on wheels

Could possibly get a very decent dc2 integra? gsi though doubt you would get a vti-r for round 8k.

get a vw gold. mk 4 gti. i just had a burn round launnies back roads in a mk4 and they are fun as fuck, hold their own at any speed, tractable, zippy amount of power and they look schmick maybe that price would only get you a normal gold... but still they are nice. better than any shitty barina or astra
