Ok so legalities, aside, will it fix my problem? It is registered and street driven, but I typically trailer it to events if i know there will be a police presence.
The handbrake on my skyline is getting to be unpredictable, in that it wont always lock the rears as easily. Cable is obviously stretched, and will no doubt keep stretching due to the way the vehicle is being driven. I dont want to have to keep adjusting it etc, and want a more solid feel when engaging the handbrake.
From my understanding, a hydraulic handbrake uses a proper brake line with brake fluid to lock the rear calipers? Would give a much more accurate feel, and be much more consistent with when it locks the rears.
How do you fit one of these? Does it plumb into your existing rear brake lines? I dont understand how it wouldnt affect the front brakes, unless the proportioning valve will autmatically combat the pressure coming from the rear brake lines back up to interfere with the fronts...
Thanks in advance guys

Well yes it should fix your problem as they (mine) used to lock both at any time i ever pulled it, even normal driving at 110 a random pull driving in a straight line would lock it instantly!
They plumb into your standard brake lines! It had no effect to my front brakes at all altho a few times when handbraking and footbraking at the same time i noticed i had to drop the handbrake off then abck on or else the rear wheels would lock some times.. dont know why it just did.
With your handbrake at the moment when is it not locking?? I think you will find when throwing the car at a corner and grabbing abit of handbrake it will lock nearly all the time if it is adjusted so ur not pulling it all the way to the stop and it not doing much obviously..
On entry i spose it depends how you are entering if your just driving up and grabbing handbrake to start your entry then it may struggle but thats a pretty lame way to enter soo you can learn differant ways to enter that will make it easier for the handbrake to lock (and be much more fun and look way more badasss), be it scandos or just small 1 sided throw..
I wouldnt go straight out and get a hydro at an early stage. Use it as a last resort.. (i did it as i needed to change the handbrake shoes and i figured why spend 250 on decent shoes when i can spend abit more and get a hydro..
Hydro handbrakes do have a differant effect on the car i have found, they are aloot more voilent and used correctly have a pretty big differance in comparioson to a standard handbrake! The seem to throw the car alot harder and mainly the confidence that at any time when you may need to grab a small amount of handbrake it WILL lock and lock hard every time!!
LONG post!!!

Its just clapped out i think, in the cable. the handle mechanism itself is a bit rough, and youve really got to push the handbrake back down, like there is no tension behind it to pull it back down.
really have to rip the handbrake on fairly hard to get it to bite. I will typically feint outwards before turning in and pulling the handbrake, then release as i throttle, drop clutch out and steer to opposite lock, as im coming up to the corner. But the handbrake wont always bite enough to get the rears to lock, and like i said, feels rough through the handle, like there is interferance.
