Ok so I need a tripod so I can get some night shots/play with longer exposure day shots. Got some pretty decent photographic minds on the forum so what do you reckon is a good starting point?
PS. I'm a tightarse saving for a wedding so no carbon fibre super tripods that I could never afford

I say go with a Velbon Sherpa. I had a 400R and it was great for a bastic, sturdy but well made and sharp tripod. Came with a pan-head that was the same head right up to the carbon fibre units so it's a decent head, plus it can be removed for ball heads etc..
EDIT: My Sherpa was circa $160 when bought about 1 1/2-2yrs ago now.
Cheers guys. Much appreciated!

I just got a velbon sherba 600r for like $200. its an aweoms tripod, can be a bit of a pain when you are trying to set it up, but its sturdy and that was the main thing i was looking for.
