If you want a place to sit down a little more formally, let me know I have access to a meeting room that seats 10 comfortably, it's pretty central for those that live in town and Palmo.

Was just an offer to make it a bit more organised, easier for anyone taking notes too, taking it all a little bit more seriously etc.
Shame we can't do a quick one before the Wednesday meeting.

if theyre worried about dust n shit at HV, how much would it cost to hire out a big marquee or whatever? that way the cars are sheltered without hiding them all away in the pit bays.

it depends if: HV + marquee < showgrounds

showgrounds would be a lot cleaner, but then theres no chance to see demos of the cars on the track (if that would be allowed). i mean, im sure we could talk some of the owners into putting their sexy rides around the track, especially if we can convince the owners of the 2 aston martins to show

The showgrounds is just as dusty... we had a lot of trouble getting people to enter their cars there for the last Shannons show... thats why it was moved to the actual oval... but the show society would have rather strict conditions of use i imagine..

sponsorship for one thing....
but it was also going to be combined with the extravaganza.
if you have something to input, meeting at Wow at about 9pm thursday

Spoke to John today about how much shade strutures are. I figured maybe $10g for the structures setup for the V8's. Try over $40g. Yes, OVER $40,000.

And in your other comment about the Aston's, if you're talking about the person I think you are, rumour has it they've got four now - three up here, one interstate.
Thank you all for your comments guys. I'll be at Wow on Thursday in Sally the Celica. Jenny the GPZ is in pieces as of tonight - she has some teething issues, but on the bright side, bikes are freakin' AWESOME to work on. So ridiculously simple to access areas. And the fuel tank doesn't even have bolts or screw holding it in place - it just slides into a bracket! We pulled her apart in like an hour. Getting her back together however...
But I digress. I'll prepare a proposal tomorrow afternoon after work ready for Wednesday's meeting. I'll take notes at the meeting on the discussion that arises, and will advise on Thursday on how it all goes.

$40k? fuck..... righteo chaps, lets pool our money into tomorrows lotto........
lol why not buy a whole heap of shade structures, use them for the weekend, then return on the monday cos 'they were the wrong size'

free shelter

are there any other places that this could possibly be held?
ancullen
Jun 15 2009, 10:48 PM
Hidden Valley is the only place to hold it if we want any kind of motorsport-type activities included, which we do to differentiate it from the Shannons Motoring Extravaganza.

close the roads to the pizza boys?
as to the cost of shade n shit, would sponsorship help much? or would that be too much of a hassle? (ie; some companies would want shit done one way, another would want it done another way etc)

Sponsorship won't help at all - can't explain in a public forum, but am happy to discuss it on Thursday.

i have been a willing participant to many an activity organised in a car park but i feel that as this concept gains momentum it would be advantageous to have a "round table" type of environment to conduct our meetings and it would double as a semi formal place to have potential sponsors / brains-trusts attend instead of a carpark . Adam suggested that we tag along on a Sunday meeting help by a motoring club ( brain has farted ) on the 24th of this month and i second this idea but adam will have to fill the gaps i am sorry ~~~~ insert red face emote here~~~~~

This is the exact reason that I suggested the room I did. A more formal setting rather than the very Darwin carpark scene.
The offer is still available as it is a freebie room and, as mentioned, very central.
Interested in hearing the details.

The Sunday meet-up will be on the last Sunday of this month, so that should be the 28th by my calculations. Currently I won't be able to make it, but it will depend on how my vehicular repairs go over the next week.
Thanks Meg for the meet-up location.

Yep, John's reaction was good, but there was a negatory on doing something as part of the existing Shannon's Motoring Extravaganza.
I can't attend on a Thursday night at the RC's for the next couple of weeks. Once I have a working vehicle again I'll be right with whatever.
