For me, they are good, but not great.
1. Funny, but meh.
2. Nearly - not all of the face is in focus, had it been, it would have been nice.
3. Not bad, don't like that the foreground is fuzzy.
4. Your son looks very photoshopped?
5. I like the composition of this one.
6. Needed the whole scooter in the pic - would have been great if you had.
7. Pic of the bunch for me.
8. nothing special here
9. nothing special here
10. Better than #4!
11. again - bird not sharp enough for me
12. again - spider not sharp enough for me.
I think you are getting pretty close to shooting some great shots. All I can say is practise practise practise. Seems like you have an eye for it - keep it up!
Thanks for your detailed feedback mate, it's good to know other peoples honest opinions.
I agree mostly with your comments, but included pics other than perfect, cos I think it's nice to see development along the way.
Re No.3 I don't like fuzzy foreground either, but it's long exposure and high wind. I could have cropped it out, but decided some foreground was better than none.
Re no. 4 Only photoshop was a little dodging under the eyes. It's actually a very tight crop from a half body shot, with a decent lens.
Re No. 10 being better than number 4. 10 is a candid, which I always think is better if you can get them.
Re. No. 12 Had the lens wide open, as the spider was in between a couple of rocks in the shade. Even if I owned a macro lens, I wouldn't have had it on the camera at that time.
I'll keep them coming as I get them. I've got a nice little fast 50mm coming that I'll want to play with.
Cheers
