Hey.. maybe UPnP will actually work and just maybe my PS3 wont' get jittery playback anymore!
Can't wait to get it home...

This networks RTA1046VW (aka 1025W + VOIP) had 189 days of uptime before I unplugged it to move the power point

Constant connection time of 30+ days at a time.

So far I'm liking it.
Hasn't solved the jitter problems when streaming to the ps3 but I would suggest that it's more to do with bitrate/shitty bandwidth.
Need to run a cable through the roof for the ps3 or something. Or across the floor! I bet Dani would love that...

Dynalinks wireless is really good, so it wont be a problem there. Dont forget that wireless is gonna max out at 54Mbit and some MKV can be as high as 50Mbit (!!).
You'll probably find its the PS3 failing. But run a wire anyway, cause wired > wireless. Always. No exceptions

I noticed on a movie where I can replicate the jitter, that it's happening at like, 2mbit for some crazy reason.. so it can't be bandwidth issue.
I did run it through a transcoder and lost a little quality and it's running fine.. I'd rather work out where the problem is in the first place.. people seem to be able to stream 10mbit via 802.11g with no issues (over 10 gets choppy) but fucked if it's doing it for me..
I tried to reserve an IP on the router for the PS3 too but for some reason it wont allocate the reserved IP to the PS3.. just keeps assigning a DHCP address.
Shrug.

Every device on my network has a reserved IP and works fine. Can you get your PC to retrieve a reserved address? Did you copy/paste the MAC address of the PS3 to ensure you havent put a 0 instead of O or similiar?
Does the PS3 show its wireless strength? Maybe youve got something thats interfering with it and thus youre getting all of 1Mbit or so, or alternatively you get a high signal but due to the interference its constantly dipping in and out during transfers? To give you some idea of its wifi strength, I have the RTA1025W in my room in the narrow shelf on one of those crappy Ikea PC desks. The laptop in the lounge room (maybe 10m away through lots of wood walls) gets 99% signal and copies stuff from the server at around 2.5MB/sec.
Considering how close your PS3 and router are, you should be getting 100% signal and the full 54Mbit :\

To be honest the PS3 says it's at like, 75-80% signal, but picks up my neighbours router (albiet it's just on the other side of the wall, but the wall is double brick!) at 100%? I'll have to double check the signal thing because I know it was a bit odd at the time.
My PC works fine on the reserved address and yeah I did copy/paste the MAC for the PS3 but for some reason it wouldn't assign it. I figured I'd let it run out of lease time on the dynamic one and give it another crack.
Might go check the signal strength now actually...

72%
And given there isn't much between PS3 and the router, I don't get why. Running on channel 11.. if that means much

Wait now my desktop isn't getting assigned the reserved IP...

Is your DHCP range from 192.168.1.50 -> 192.168.1.255 or something? You cant reserve an IP address thats outside of its pool.

I know its a bit old, But if you're having jittery streaming its definitely. a bitrate/bandwidth issue.
I am transcoding at a peak rate of 11mbps and my connection jumps from 11mbps and 24mbps. I then moved to wired and set the limit for transcoding (im using ps3 media server) to 50mbps and poof problem gone.
