So down to business, currently running an MSI P35 Neo Combo which supports DDR2 and DDR3, currently have Kingston 1x 2GB DDR2-667 (PC2-5300) and a Kingston 1 x 1GB DDR2-667 (PC2-5300) RAM modules installed and I'm thinking of going to DDR3. Now the motherboard itself only supports up to DDR3-1066 (PC3-8500) and DDR2-1066 (PC2-8500). So the question is, is it worth going to DDR3 now, or should I stick to DDR2, and would I notice a difference between the 2?
I have plans on building a new rig once Windows 7 comes out and going all out from there but I would say that the DDR3 I plan on purchasing would be outdated by then as well. I'm also under the impression that DDR2-1066 will be a little more difficult to come across now compared to DDR3.
