Hey guys

I've been shooting for a while now using my parents Sony a350 but for obvious reasons i'm wanting to upgrade (did someone say NOISE). Me and a mate are going to start getting into weddings etc. so i want a camera thats going to get some nice shots and be able to handle any lighting condition thats thrown at it. I also want a full frame sensor but don't want to spend and arm and a leg.. preferably just a leg as i'll need 2 arms to shoot with one of these bad boys.

After doing a bit of research i have found that my main 2 choices are either a used Canon 5d mk i or a new D700. There are a few positives and negatives i have found from the DSLR's and i think i am probably better off getting a 5D due to the lens range being far greater than the D700 plus the fact that my mate has a 5D mk ii so i can steal lenses when he is not looking. What do you guys reckon? I hope i am not starting a Canon vs Nikon war here tongue.gif

whats wrong wid the a350

I dislike the fact that i shoot at ISO 100 and get stacks of noise yet my mate can shoot the same shot at ISO 2400 with his 5D and get a clearer picture. I'm big on clarity and the a350, whilst being a good camera, does not cut it for me. I also want to start investing in lenses and i can't see myself shooting Sony my whole life so i figure best change now before i spend a bucket on lenses then decide to change.

The problem is, the A350 is a consumer camera, whereas the 5D is a step up to the professional side of things.

I think if noise is that much of an issue for you, there's something wrong. I went through the same fad, always complaining about noise, whether or not you can see it, it's still there and easy to pick at. Learn with what you have, focus on your composition, framing and the rest before worrying about clarity wink.gif

Very valid point Harley. I won't be investing in the new camera for a good few months as my new car is my number 1 priority. Don't get me wrong the a350 does the job it was designed to do very well however i would like something a bit better. The problem is that once you invest in a brand you are stuck with it once you start buying lenses and with all the high end cameras going full frame i figure why not invest in a camera with a full frame sensor and as a result a lens line up designed for that.

Otherwise i'll end up buying a 50d and spending all this money on lenses which wont do my next camera any justice.
CHECK IT
5d or 5d2, both full frame

For the price you could plck up a 5D for now you couldn't go wrong and you wouldn't be dissapointed.
