Question.. I'm currently looking for a 450d twin lense kit..

Would I be smarter to grab this + spend the extra money on another lense?

Very tempting as a backup body!

Kit: Depends on how serious you want to be about things, but you'll definitely love the 40d a lot more than the 450

well.. I've budgeted like 1200 for the 450.

if I got this for the 900 say, gives me 300 to buy a cheap zoom lense or something?

It's all much of a muchness really. Eventually as you progress the body will likely change but you'll keep your same lens, so I'd be investing a little more into the optical side of things

well I figure once I get used to it I'd buy some decent glass but something to start out would be good..
