where abouts in tassy do you want to move to
what sort of work you looking for
are you moving with family or by yourself
what sort of things do you like doing ( sport, motor vehicle/cycle stuff recreation etc)
my opinion is its an easier lifestyle in tassy to live than most places onthe mainland
Webb
gods country mate,

proberly by myself
ahh id love to move to Hobart, like right in the middle of where it all happens
is there many clubs n stuff there?
because when i went over on holiday there wasnt many aye :S
whats the night life like over there?
and is there many car things over there? like mini truckers n stuff?

i personaly think its pretty laid back, like from what i saw when i went over there, i traveled all over the place, loved the little town called Wynyard which was near Penguin, when i went there there was a seal that used to come up next to the boats, and the town named it Wyny, i think thats heaps mad we dont have much of that kinda thing over here in syd, still gotta love SYD but bowrofl.gif

also went to a little town named Ross, was a heaps mad picturesk town
like something outta a postcard

Also went to a holiday place named RutherGlen holiday village, reply if you have been there before thumbsup.gif

anyways take care dudesssss cool.gif

i just moved down from qld for uni
its not bad but i'm missing the gold coast
the roads are great here but somethings are hard to find being an island
there is no ikea, aldi and a few other places that you take for granted in the mainland
its a lot more laid back here and property is cheep (and a lot of ppl rent so its good for renal investments)
been difficult to find a job but i am a uni student and all the other uni students seem to have taken all the jobs
i'd also say the weather is not as good here and its a fair bit colder than qld but the scenery is stunning, you just dont get anything like it on the mainland (from where i've been)

roads are pretty sweet down here,
night life is pretty dead compared to most of the main land (clubs arnt open 7 days)
cops are pretty crusy compared to mainland ones
peak hour lasts for 30mins tongue.gif
biggest problem is lack of money, it seems to be hard to make realy decent coin down here, im taking home $600ish a week, where mates in WA are taking home $1200 with the same (no) skills although they are working in the mines
Houses are cheap to buy $250,000 will get you a 3 bedroom house less than 10ks from Hobart

1 bed, depending on where, and if serviced, between $200 a week for one that is a walk away from town, to $1000 for a fully serviced wank factor room
best pub depends on what you want in a pub? my preferences are makers mark and cascade pale ale on tap, if it doesnt have both of them, then it isnt a good pub
best hotel in hobart would be the grand chancelor, best one around hobart would probably be the casino
realy depends on what you mean by 'the best'

I moved down from Bris vegas about 14 months ago. I can honestly say, hand on heart, that despite the property values - it's more expensive to live in Tas than in Brisbane by a fair margin. Groceries, vehicles, electricity, Water, Gas, AND petrol is a lot more exxy than the mainland. If your looking at buying a house - the stamp duty down here is almost DOUBLE what it is in Brisbane and rates and taxes are at least a 1/3 more expensive. You also don't have the capital growth down here that you have on the mainland but for $$$ value - you get an awful lot sof house for $400K down here, which is average to crap on mainland...Enough of the negatives.

The weather aint as bad as i expected. Sure the winter is cold - but no where near as bad as the summers are hot in Bris!!! The roads, scenery, fishing, shooting, and laid back lifestyle are all awesome !!!

I've found it difficult to get a few things done down here as limited specialists on the island. Also - can be difficult to source parts, get things engineered down here - but sites like boost help you out there...

The best thing about the place for me is the lower population - Bris was way too crowded for me, ppl fukin everywhere - guess that comes under lifestyle....yeah - it's a pretty good lifestyle down here !
Cheers
Si.

I'll swap you locations.

haha, go wynyard, not a bad little town, and a fair way away from penguin, for us from tassie anyway, when it takes 3 and a half hours from wynyard to hobart. but up in the north theres not alot of car action. a bit of night life in burnie and dev on weekends but nothing compares to hobart, too busy for me, when i can get to work in 7 minutes. hobart took about 20 minutes for the same distance when i was working there, in town
