I installed Windows 7 and everything was going fine. Then I tried playing another song and the sound was weird, it's got a lot of static and is very unclear. Also it's as if the high tone is completely gone. The speakers themselves are fine as when I plug something else into them they work perfectly. I have tried uninstalling my sound driver and restarting the PC so that it re-installs them by itself and that didn't fix it. I have had this problem once years before but can't remember how I fixed it. Any help would be really good.

Are you using Windows Media Player or something else like Winamp? Try using one at a time and see if there's a difference.

P.S. Windows 7 can be a bit dodgy with old sound drivers. How old is your computer ?
