Hey people,

I am looking for an installation guide for a friends 2000 subaru forester for the stereo.

We are installing a sony xplode head unit from a stock one. Removal and bracket fitting was not a problem, and putting it back will be fine aswell, the only problem is the data plug, or whatever it is. The plugs are different and we were supplied with one (with the new stereo) which requires wiring. This is where it gets hard.

If anyone can help us out or point us in the direction of an installation guide would be greatly appreciated.

James, you have to cut the end of the old plugs off, and solder colour wire to colour wire and electrical tape them up. With your hu you should have got a colour diagram for what each wire does.

This is how ive done it before, but ive never done it in a forester so not sure if its any different with a factory unit.

Here is the radio pinouts for the 1995-2001 Impreza radio pinouts. They would probably be pretty similar if not identical.

Just join the wires indicated on the diagram above to the matching wires on your new head unit. The wiring diagram for the new headunit would either be in the installation manual or on the bottom of the unit itself, or both.

Just make sure the wiring diagram above is the right one for your car.
Eg. Cut one of the wires for the right hand front speaker according to the diagram and if it stops working then you'll know that its is the correct wiring thumbsup.gif
