Hey guys...

Finally decided to upgrade today after years of being interested in photography from a Casio point and shoot to a Canon 450D.

Picked it up at 9:00AM this morning and was at QR by 12:00 to try it out for the very first time. So keep that in mind when commenting the pics please smile.gif

All comments and criticisms are welcome. I'm expecting a bit, so that I can learn how to properly use a DSLR.

My Equipment:
Canon EOS 450D
18-55mm Lens
55-250mm Lens

Nice shots, a little lame on the PP (with the selective colouring, everyones done that to death now:P)

You certainly have a keen eye for framing, all the shots look decent, especially over say, that other dude with the 'Worlds best dslr thread' who reckons he's a natural at something or other..

Nice work.

I'm impressed, very impressed to say the least. Your framing is excellent, you've got it spot on in nearly all of the pictures, making them easy on the eye to look at, with no shotty ass angles like most new people with cameras do!

The only problem I see is a high level of noise, this could be caused by having your ISO cranked abit a little bit too high wink.gif
Slav
im impressed with the quality of these shots and you bought the camera on the same day

I spent years using a POS Casio 4mp digi camera, and i got to the point where i couldnt produce anything better on it, i guess i taught myself how to frame shots well and hunting for nice abstract styled shots on that. So i brought that along when i upgraded to the 450D.

I think the noise is coming from maybe to much sharpening, but could also be the ISO, what setting of ISO would you recommend, still learning laugh.gif
HarleyJace
Keep it on the lowest possible for the lighting your using, more ISO is more Grain, less ISO is better picture quality but less light wink.gif
Mr.B
For sprints anywhere between 100 - 400 is fine.

I agree with Harley and NOT with this guy.

ISO needs to be kept at it's lowest possible setting for the highest quality image in terms of noise.

I shoot in bright sunlight @ 320 ISO. but for this ISO100 is omre than enough espec if your panning.

Very nice man. You have a pretty keen eye for decent framing.

I really don't see that much of a difference between say 100-320. But thats just me, and majority of the stuff I shoot. I love your shots, some of them are a blown out in places though. The photo of the lotus the pit area is really blown out but as i said, your shots are awesome smile.gif

Edit: I fucking love the 2nd shot!
JCG
very nice, favs are 7 and 10
get the iso sorted and that will make a real difference
The Style Guru
Cheers for all the comments guys, and thanks for the feedback on the ISO. Next time I'm out i will have a fiddle with the settings you guys have said and go from there.
