hey i have come across a company in SA that has a vehicle tracking service you pay $300-350 to have the unit installed into your car and then $7-10 per week depending on the length of contract you take with them. it's not like the fleet tracking were they have someone sits and watches where you go 24/7 but instead if you report your car stolen they track it and email, text or call you and police if needed letting you know where it is or where it is travelling. i think it's a good idea and well worth $10 a week to know if my car is stolen i can just call someone and know where to go find it.
it also has other options too if you go on holidays or just away for a weekend you can call and set a perimiter fence and if the car moves from this you get a text or call same as you get with a house alarm if it goes off. and if you dont answer the police are notified and given the address or where the car is travelling.

what do you's think worth it or not????

But keep in mind lots of our cars are worth much more than insurance would ever give you for them. This could be the difference between getting it back in one piece and knowing who nicked it wink.gif to never seeing it again and getting a payout.

It's a decent idea, however they do have flaws. Any serious car thief knows of their existence already, and will check for them. Also they mostly rely on gps, which can be easily blocked. I probably will get one for my next bike, but just know they ain't fullproof.

Actually, check ebay. They have units on there using gps and text messaging. Text a number and it sends you global coordinates, can use either a navman or google earth to find it. Cheaper, and no monthly fee.

Thats true load the car into the back of a truck with doors that completely seal and goodbye signal.
