im posting this on behalf of my mate jason, late last year he brought a 2008 r6 for around $16,000 but had it insured for $20,000 it was his pride an joy and it was a good looking bike,
only last week he got the exhaust done cost him $780, today while he was on his way home from gym, he was going to stop in to get fuel when some silly bitch pulled out in front of him, he tea-boned the car and the bike is now a right-off, he got 18 stiches in his let and is at home now resting....
the police told him to come down the cop shop tomoro and get some number from them s he can try get his insurance.. the police told him he was in the rong because he was in the side line turning in to get fuel when the chick cut him off.... so now he mite not get his insurance....?

He is in the wrong mate, sadly. You can only pass a vehicle on the left side IF that vehicle you are passing is turning RIGHT.
You can not pass vehicles waiting for THAT vehicle to turn right either... i know its tempting and i have done and will prob do it again on my bike. BUT when you are doing this illegal move it pays to keep an eye out in front for car movements and not be hauling too much ass which i suspect was the case here considering the bike is upsidedown resting on another car bout 6 to 8 meters away.

Even if hes in the wrong, he should still be covered by insurance, only thing is he's at fault and will have to pay the excess + take the rating hit.
No offense to your mate, but damn i'm sick of all these heros on brand new r6's/r1's/gsxr's/cbr's etc. that don't gear up! If you're wearing all the proper gear(as you should be, every time the bike leaves the garage, even if you're "just goin down the road") aka proper pants and some riding boots i think it would be pretty safe to say he wouldn't have needed 18 stitches in the leg. I assume that's his shoe on the ground?? He lucky he didn't break an ankle.
Never the less, live and learn. Hope your mate makes a quick recovery and gets back out on the bike soon enough.
