For those of you wondering what the limit of the video recording of this camera is it's 29 minutes and 59 seconds, this has been limited to this because in Japan if this camera records for more than 30 minutes it's considered a video camera.

The 500D isn't out to replace the 450D, it's a new model to go in between the 450D and the 50D.

One of the new things introduced into the DLSR world by this camera is the fact that it has face detection in live view mode.

A question was arised today regarding the amount of faces it detects, apparently it detects about 27 faces.

There is no pricing on this camera but by my judgements it should be under $2000 and more than $1500.

I'm going to buy one of these when they come out smile.gif

along with a ex580-2 speedlite.

i guess this camera is going to be released by the end of May as i heard.

LMAO wow making the days of the DSLR even more lame now has face recognition wow gone are the days of having to use focal points and manual focus to get the photo now u can hold the camera likea point and shoot and take a photo like one too.

and look at it lets add 3mp but loose .1fps, yes the video function is cool but why is it needed on a camera that is still a 1:1.6 crop view with so many features that a amatuer wouldnt know how to use.

sure would be cool to see one in action but to me it just looks like a fight on who can shove the most stuff into the smallest plastic camera

you have a good point about this, this is simply because they add extra features to make it stand out from the crowd and also to make SLR useablity much easier for the everyday user who is after better results than point and shoots.

The camera is still very manual, has adjustable focal points and still has the adjustable 9 point AF.

The reason there is a video function is because to put two things into the one device.

It's handy to say the least.

its also probably because nikon has brought out one of there smaller cameras with the video capture ability and the fact that people didnt wanna spend $4000-$5000 on buying the 5mkII so they put it in a more affordable package.

i would love to see one in action especially the video function as have seen the 5dmkII video and it is awsome

yeah that's it, it's kind of aimed to have the features of the d90.

yeah, seeing that the d90 is i believe 720p and is limited to about 5 minutes, this one has got a limit of 29 mins and 59 seconds (stated earlier why), so it would be very interesting to see the quality.

I'm sure it would be superb.

Just gotta wait till they come out now sad.gif

end of may
