Hi all, finally looking at getting my bike license. Got open car license and i figure now i'm bit more experienced and won't kill myself on a bike which was whole reason i didn't get it few years ago.
Question is has anyone done q-ride coarse and who you did it through? Or can anyone recommend a good school to do it through? I know there are a heap of places that offer it but i actually want somewhere a bit stricter to make sure i'm set to ride by myself and won't just give me a license.
Cheers for any help

I'm pretty sure the Q-Ride system has been completely restructured. You can't just do the day course and ride out on your R licence. A year on the 250CC licence is required now.

Again, i'm pretty sure, but not 100%. Check out the DOT website for more information.

I've had a quick look. Know i had to spend a year or RE license before getting open license and thats fine with me. Not silly enough to jump straight onto a 1000cc bike straight off the mark anyway. Was talking to a guy couple of days ago who runs a school and its apparently being changed from Q-ride to LAMS i believe he said. From what i understand its same deal as P-plate laws for cars. Red and green plates as well as power to weight restrictions for whole 3 year period. Just more chasing a good school to start with and chat to

Yeah I've heard that too from my friend that recently did Q-Ride - that a LAMS system will be in place soon.

My mate and I both did our Q-Ride course through Pro Honda in Rocklea (Brisbane). I had no complaints, but others may have different suggestions.

I recommend after you get your licence, become involved in some bike forums - heaps out there to choose from! I have done that and go on group rides. You meet lots of experienced riders and learn a lot. Important thing is to always remember to ride within your limits and don't do anything stupid... It takes time to learn, even very experienced riders say they are still learning every day.

i did mine at pro honda for my RE - at first i thought that it was a little too easy to pass... i found that, because the instrutors cant see your face.. like "OMG FUCKKKKK" "i totally fucked that up" "FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK".... they can only see how your riding the bike... for instance for most of the tasks i was shatting my pants and thinking i screwed it up... but when really the instructor said there was nothing wrong with what i was doing.... but hey i'm VERY happy.... price isnt too bad, 270 i think.. last i checked they have a 2 for 1 deal....

just remember to ask PLENTY of questions... get your monies worth..

im doing my Rs at HART.. i got the March special - 185 for a weekday course... although i think they only have the new cb400... i'll let you know how it goes... generally HART are supposed to be good...

good luck!
