Hi,
Does anyone know how I can get my old Video 8 tapes converted to Digital, without spending a fortune in software and cables ?
Some of the tapes are actually losing their quality to a point of being unwatchable - so i'd like to get onto this asap.
I have heard of one system that DS sells, but was told it was unreliable and cost well over $200 to set up ? Anyone have any better / cheaper ideas - other than filming the TV whilst the vid is playing ??
THanks
Si.

I use a Leadtek PCI video capture card and record from camera RCA output cables direct to PC. Fairly easy and cheap.

hmmm, joys of Video 8....
You have two options mate, either send it in to get it converted by a video transfer places (there are still few places that deals with with 8mm tapes, but it might be expensive depending on the length of the footage)
Or hire following machines:
Sony EV-C100 Deck
DataVideo DV converter
And import using Final Cut Pro
Good luck mate
