wat are the pro's and con's?
and who on the gold coast is known for building good rb30/25's?
any help is great
thanks guys
Timmyp34
custom work and lots of it
bergie_318is
which 3 series? e30? e36?

have seen some really nice e36's with rb's in them, they go like the clappers too!

when done right.
someblackguy
actually have a mate with an rb26/30 combo and looking to put it into a 318i as well

luckily for him, he owns his own workshop, so he can really cut down costs.

theres a lot of fab work involved, but when done right i can imagine it would yield some very devastating results

how much is your budget, you can get a more specific answer

it says E36 in the title.
also a 1UZ fits if you want an alternative.

Would have thought 1J or 2JZ 's were best for BMW's. Exhaust Manifolds are on the left side and Intake on the right just like the factory M50.

That is boring though, Whipple Charged LS1 or s54b32 Conversion ftw

Yeah putting a nissan motor into the BMW is a real pain in the ass, that's from my own experience, after which i shouldve gone down the road of the 1J instead.

Either way its a good swap, yeah if you troll the net (not just boost) you will find some info on the swaps that have been done, yes even in qld they have been done.

And Toiletduck, just so you know, there was a guy putting an LS1 into an E30 over in WA, which is a bit of a feat in itself.

But yeah do some reason on the engine choice first before jumping straight into it, as it might be more worth while to buy the car with the swap already, than go through the pain and hassles of getting the conversion done.

Lastly, major Pro is having a sleeper cruiser that no one suspects, but that doesnt mean you should go street racing in it either!

please open a shop so i can book my car in... for 10k, i'll take a 25/30 package

do some rough sums if u wanna make it killa....

tough engine (not slapper rb30 with stock 25 head)
so machinework, balancing, big head portwork, pistons, rods, bolts, bearings, crank grind, all new pars water pump, oil pump etc, cams, valves, springs, head gasket...

i would budget $15,000

ecu (autronic or something decent) $3500

Turbo, manifold, Wastegate and lines (yet again no ebay shit) $5000

Plenum, injectors and rail - $2000

Cooler $500

Pipework (Exhaust, Intercooler Pipework and Plumb Gate etc) $3000 +

Fab work to make mounts, mount engine and box Few thousand

Gearbox? RB25det box. 1500, clutch (decent one) 800, Custom Tail Shaft $800

Wiring etc? $$$

Radiator and fans (custom alloy radiator and a decent fan) probs $1500

Labour to do it all????

I have had experince working in a said performance workshop, and i don't think ppl take into accound doing a job right, or just thinkging it'll happen i have X amount of money...

think my shit looks pricey... i'll sit down n do all individual pricing if u want.... it all adds up

ben your crazy..

whats wrong with the raw power of the 1.9L 4 banger? LOL

I was talking to a mate the other day who has the sedan, and he is putting a 3.6 or 3.8 (cant remember) alloytech commodore engine in it when his motor gives up so maybe you could look into that..

In the mean time come for a beemer cruise lol

I don't think people realise how much mucking around this sort of thing is...

OT dude a few streets away used to have a purple 3 series(?) with a rb25 in it, was sick but haven't seen it in ages.

Me and a mate put a RB30 into a 85 E30 318i. .
Motor fit in by about an inch length wise, manual gearbox lined up pretty much perfectly. .

Customs mounts obviously. . Front end has to be modded a bit if you want to use the RB30 radiator, which we did. .
Wiring is obviously a joke, german and jap wiring just dont mix. .
Needed a new brake booster because the exhaust fouled it. .
Apart from that, the obvious custom exhaust and tailshaft and that was it. .

Turbowerx do pretty decent 25/30's.
wayno_00
Prob best to go the E28 Brake Booster.

Yes this is the most common fault of all Nissan/BMW installs!

i looked into a sr20 redtop. was about 10k drive in drive out everything done, gauges exhuast manifold, fmic etc etc. its a pretty crazy job but well worth it if you do. one of those feelings as if you'll keep the car to your death haha. Have fun
