Does anyone know where on the net I can settle a heap of arguments ?

Eg - How fast over the 1/4 is a F1 car ? or A v8 supercar ? Motogp bike ? I'd really like to know ET's and MPH of all the top rated bikes and cars - or if anyone can add from what they've actually seen at the track ?

EG - I saw DJ's falcon pull 12 .1 at Willowbank but that was with wrong diff apparently....

Anyone ??

Thanks
Si.

an F1 runs very low 9's, even high 8's, but at like 180mph +

they are not really designed for the 1/4, and if one was set up to run the 1/4, the power/weight ratio and speed indicates a 7 second run

what year was the DJ falcon? a 12.1 is pretty slow "if" it was a late-ish era falcon..

back in the good days, when the v8's were Group C touring cars, they had some 1/4 mile shoot outs, and Brock's VC HDT Group C ran a 12.6 in full race car trim, not drag car trim, and thats back in '82

i thought the later/current supertaxi's ran in the high 10's/low 11's?

The DJ car wasn't that old - 2003. I was also blown away by the "high" ET, but apparently it had just been testing at QLD raceway all day, so the diff ratio would of been quite tall as the straight there are long. But still - i've been doing some reading up and it's quite amazing what numbers some cars do.
Like Mclaren F1 car - 11's flat ?
Bugatti Veyron with over 1000hp - 10.8 seconds...

guesswho
From what i've seen on clips + magazines,

F1 = 9 second flat
Moto GP = mid to low 9

In the new wheels magazine the new FG V8 supercar ran an 11.80 @ 216kph

Here's a good 1/4 mile vid to watch, f1 vs moto gp vs boat

10.43 @ 135mph.

For comparison, Just goes to show why bikes are popular

$18000
08' CBR1000RR with pipe and mapping, 9.6@140mph, around 185hp

$13990
08' CBR600RR stock, 10.9@122mph, around 110hp

edit: as far as moto GP bikes go, 9.25@145mph is the fastest i have seen, which is not alot faster than the stock bikes. Where a moto GP bike is FAR superior is braking, and the torque in the top 2 gears giving a much higher top speed, and superior performance in gears 4-6, so dosent effect the 1/4 mile time as much due to physics dictating how much traction one can attain from a contact patch the size of a matchbox

that is correct it was not long ago at the winternationals and lowndes went a similar time and speed they both had trouble getting thier cars off the start line with the correct diff gears they would probably run high nines

60 foot times are make or break in drag racing all the cars you mention have trouble getting off the startline if they were set up for it with correct diff gears sticky tires and an auto trans they would go a lot quicker
