hey guys

got a mate who has about a month to go on his restricted licence (<250cc)..

He came across an 07 r6 at a bargain price and bought it..

whats the penalties if his caught riding out of his class ? I told him its 6 points, $600 bucks ( just bullshiting to make him scared and not risk it) and also mentioned insurance wont cover him..

I recommended he just park it in the garage for a month and act like shes not there thumbsup.gif

so whats the real go with this ?

thanks

your treated as an unlicenced rider... your " friend" also has to either pass the licence test from qld transport or qride before your "FRIEND" and upgrade legally...

also not worht the risk if your "friend" has an accident and hurts someone its all outta your "friends" pocket as there is no insurance

Wont be the first person to do this and wont be the last. Download a free workshop manual from bike chat forums, put the bike in the garage, pull it down into a heaps of peices and clean the crap outta her, give her a full service and goin over for the next month...then when you do - sorry your friend - does get full licence, bike will be in "honeymoon period" and wont need touching for ages..

dude its a month just wait it out. not worth the risk... yoshis got the right idea..

the thing is.... people here will tell you not to ride it and not risk it...
and yet you will probably go against it

confucious say, if you ask stupid question, you only want stupid answer.

Why would YAM 13 look any good on a 2007 model R6 for $1500 ??

Maybe YAM 07 or YAM 66....YAM 13 ? Don't get it...

that ^, looks like Sh!t!!!!!!!

what a knob, he wants 1500 for it, then you would be up for 195 to change the colour of it, when for a few hundred more, you could have "YAMMY" plates, and not YAM13. Then the plates definately have no history and you don't have to buy from some random guy. I hate people who do that with plates. He has 3 sets for sale

took your guys advise.. stayed of the bike..
went to qld transport to confirm the date that Im eligible to go for my R's.
funnily enough the date was 2 weeks prior to what I thought it was so I went for the Q-Ride and got it biggrin.gif
thanks for the advice .. and yes I shouldnt have said 'it was my mate' wen it was me

Lol, it's not the first time someone on the interwebz has claimed to be asking for a mate, to avoid embarrassment or criticism. The times when I'm truly asking for a mate I feel like I'm lying.

Good to hear you waited it out, a month is nothing. Enjoy ya new ride.

According to the penalties page (off QLD dot website) its 1 point and 160bucks. If your on your learners 3 points and 360. CBF finding the page. If you need it just search

so where do you guys buy aftermarket exhausts from ?
locally sourced or from america ?
SSS-R
all depends on what you want.

some good us ones are; tobefast, motomummy, bayside performance, morepowerracing

If the dollar ever gets back up, it is the only way to go, even at the moment, it is still marginally better off. I just ordered some Pazzo's from RatedR (Australian ebay store - recommend him), I could have saved 15 or so dollars buying from the US, but I wanted them this week. I have purchased from RatedR 4 times now, always great fast delivery and a good product at decent prices.

If you want something like a Jardine GP1, try the teammoto Yamahas, they generally have them. Don't pay what they are asking though, they knocked 25% off without much twisting when I got mine 18months ago.

Critechal Components in Brisbane is the Australian Graves distributer, see his site for the Graves equiv of the GP1, but for a full Graves exhaust, I would still buy from the US, as he is @#$%'n exxy.

4500+GST (4950) for a full ti exhauster for my new bike is what I am talking about, I think I could get that here from the US for under 4. Yes, I understand he needs to make money, but I guarantee the retail I pay is more than the wholesale price he pays. I don't feel the easier transaction, and lack of worrying if your international package will arrive is worth 1000bucks. Don't get me wrong, I have dealt with him, and he was great, but who has 5k to throw at an exhaust on a 20k bike.

mate, you have had the bike for about 15minutes... enjoy riding it first before THINKING about modding it. Exhaust is the most expensive mod out there, so think about cheaper stuff first. Like fuel and oil so you can keep riding it and get some time up!

Get a chain/sprocket 520 conv, -1,+1or+2 gearing helps a heap, speedohealer, air filter, good tyres. Enjoy the bike before you spend 2k on an exhaust. Do yourself a favour too and get a full system not just a muffler too, when you do eventually get one

yer mate, wen i first got my 600rr i waited it out, got the feel of it etc. changed oil, sproket conversion, air filter tires and little bit of paint work last thing i done was put a KR Tuned exhaust. Enjoy bike first mate, then do all the major mods, it will just set u back a bit
