Well picked up my copy of Halo Wars yesterday, and i am extremely happy with it. I love RTS games, but apart from End War (doesn't really count since its not a proper one) and Red Alert 3 they all sucked on consoles. But Halo Wars is just awesome, Ensemble went out with a bang on this one, definitely reminds me of Age of Empires with how it is set out.

What Does everyone else think of it?

Definitely worth a buy, or even hire. Remember get Special Edition so you get the new Mythic Maps for Halo 3.

Got limited edition put aside at work. Played the demo and thought it was pretty great, some people complaining that its too simple but meh, its a console rts so i think it works pretty well.

If you get the limited edition and dont need the halo maps, chuck them up on ebay like everyone else. For some reason people are paying ridiculous amounts for them. =\

Yeah thats basically all it is, doesnt really bring anything new to the genre. Im a big fan of Halo though so i dont really mind.

Its interesting to see all the units, weapons, vehicles etc you've seen and played against in the FPS series, then being able to command them all around and upgrade their weapons to better weapons you know from the FPS games etc, 3 vs 3 skirmish should be pretty fun too.

Only special thing is the leader units and couple of units never seen in the game, otherwise same ol halo, same ol RTS.

got it, like it. elephants make excellent base defences, or just set them up in choke points.....

mind you, once you get the ODST drop pods, you've pretty much won the round.....

the only good RTS on a console was red alert 1. i love RTS but only on PC

Try Red Alert 3 as well man, it is just as good as Halo Wars.



Use Cobras as choke point defences, once they hit 3 stars they mess shit up. Also ODST's are good but there are tonnes better units. Once you get Grizzlies, Vultures, Scarabs or fully uprgraded wraiths, you tear up.

Love the covenants special abilities also, Arbiter and Cheiftan have the best

But i personally hate it, im just not into those type of games, i just stick to halo

I like the ads where it tells you nothing about the game. I didnt even realize it was an RTS, the add just had some animation of Master Chief or what ever his name is running around and shit.

I had the option of getting this with my 360, but decided to trade it back for 93 dollars, and get 5 preowned games instead. I thought about it and being a non halo fan i wasn't that interested, and the concept of a RTS on a console doesn't seem right. It's not that i dislike rts games, its just after playing c+c on n64 i decided never again, just too damn akward with a joystick...

I prefer ads which don't show gameplay, makes video games appeal to more people. =



I am a die hard RTS fan, and always hated them on consoles, but when i picked up my 360 back in 06 i didnt want to spend anymore money on my PC, but had to as i oculdnt play RTS on console, tried CNC3 when it came out on 360 it sucked badly. But RA3 and Halo Wars have made me see the light, and with the right controller configuration it is easy to play.

I have developed a bit of a hate towards Halo Wars online, everyone is using UNSC as they have super weapons, where as convenant have super characters. The super weapons are so fucking cheap, and thye just spam the best unit and super weapon you when they attack and you cant do shit. So annoying.

How does that effect you?

I don't even know what i was thinking when i typed it but probably something like makes people want to buy a Xbox 360 as the cut scenes looked sick and want to play the game.

Awesome game if you're a fan of the Halo universe. Love the things like how the Spartans special ability is hijacking vehicles and how it looks the same in the FPS games. Campaign mode is pretty addictive as well if you get into the story of it, again though you probably need to be a fan of the fps series to enjoy it.

Finished the game, been playing online. I love it... Really love the layout and how the game plays... Best RTS to hit a console ever. Looooove the new maps for Halo 3 too... can't wiat for ODST to come out !

i got given the game and havent even had a chance to play it yet but i hell cant wait till i do sounds fucking better then expected

picked up a copy for 45 bucks beat it within a day
controls aren't that hard to get used to only gripe is you can't bind mobs to buttons

on plus side it kinda fills the gap story wise and the cut scenes are realy well done

haven't played online yet been busy playing fable2 and gow2 multi
