I've read a few threads where people have mentioned remote flash units purchased from ebay. What's the quality like? Have you had any problems? Can you suggest a good quality unit?
Pictures I mainly take are drag racing night time events, and at the moment the track I visit doesn't have the best lighting in the world. Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated

Oh and the model of my camera is a Canon 350D if that helps any.

They're pretty dodgy I've heard without modding, if you're going to be 3/4 meters away it's no worries, but walking away a decent distance is crud.
Spend the money and get pocket wizards or something, this is if your going to do it properly of course.

Yea thanks Harley. Last thing I want to do is buy something that I'm going to have to fix all the time - I'd like it to be reliable. This pocket wizard available on the net to purchase? I live in a remote location, so web purchasing is usually the way I like to go.

Yes, But VERY expensive. You could probably find some cheaper, just do some research, let us know what you find

Oooo I just found a site with them for $339
http://www.qualitycamera.com.au/product_in...roducts_id=4153 - good price?
No recharge pack? I'm assuming batteries might last a while? Anything else I might need with it?

Radiopoppers? They get no press and have PWII-equiv range and look cool with green pin striping

Nothing kicks pocketwizards arse
PS...pocketwizard just announced TTL models too.. Now they kick ass.. With up to 1/500s syncing

yes radio poppers do. they will cost so much less and perform much better.. longer distance.
yes pw jus announced the new ttl models but honestly..i wonder why they did that

unless they cost less than the px radio popper models then no point. fair enough is you have a trillion pw 2's but for people like me who want a reliable cheapish system the jrx radiopoppers are all thats required.
but im saving for some pw multimaxes now haha jks

TD06... Have you actually USED the radiopoppers mate?
You have to tape an optical sensor over the top of your IR leds on your flash on both TX flash and RX flash..
The Pocketwizard does it ALL through the hotshoe connector
I don't care about the savings had by buying radiopopper over pocketwizard.
I repeat, nothing is better at this job than pocketwizard

TTL has it's place mate
Like when you have one chance to the shot right, sports and stuff
I had no idea radiostopper released new gear, I don't keep track of inferior products

Inferior? So your calling skyports inferior too then.. A radio system designed for studio strobes lol.. You must think im having a chop at your skyports or something..trust me im not your a great photographer and you use them brilliantly. No point trying to argue something that you obviously don't know much about

Now now.
I find the new X system to be pretty cool in theory, it has a nice design for mounting to flashes where as PW's are HUGE and skyports aren't meant for active (sports etc) use.
Mad range too.

It can easily blow 1k, but then it could only cost $500 as well, depends on how/what you buy etc..
