Okay so i just recently bought a 4door r32 gts-t which is turbo. And since i have the crap new P rules im not allowed to drive it for a couple more years. I was going to just take the turbo off but then got told i will need a new computer, injectors etc. Would it be a waste of time getting them or should i just sell my engine and get a non turbo rb20??
BoostedDave
rooted either way, cant just take turbo off, and cant do engine conversions. sell car.
Special Ed
you should have done some homework b4 buying
bookie84
wait 3 years then drive it or sell it.
Yes it is a waste of money doing anything.
like the guys said above, your in a tight situation.
TPG
Or if you are in love with your 20 year old skyline and don't want to sell it, then just buy a shitter that will last 2 years.
Reeceem
I had the same problem with my ca18det s13
Theres not much work in it, take the turbo off, and all you need is a computer, you can keep the injectors as the computer will tell the fuel regulator how much fuel to let threw, not the size of the injectors. smile.gif
You can leave the intercooler and place the airfilter just before intercooler, you are going to need to buy a non turbo exhaust manifold, and possibly exhaust or just get a piece made up to fit.
:S:)
girlmode028
my mate got a 180sx and he removed the turbo and he just change the manifold and the car work fine....
sexyseven
or just buy a cheap daily and keep the skyline for a track car until you get your opens biggrin.gif
luxxy101

yes

Internals ? how much Hp roughly

taking a turbo... off a turbo car...lowers the compression dramatically, turning the car into a boat.

a standard NA motor will go much harder.

dont waste time and money taking off turbo's and shit to get around p-plate laws/ just buy a fucking non turbo people.!@!@@!!@!@

buy a na rb20 chuck it into your 32. get the turbo rb20 and either sell it or keep it and slowly build it up for the next couple of years. takin turbo off and what not might work(i personally never tried it n never known anyone who done it) but i know that by the time you get of your p's and slap the turbo back on the car, engine would have died.

Bingo.

Ignore the retards that just say buy a non turbo version.
Nik-91
Sell it and get a non turbo 180 with an sr20. Engine conversions arn't allowed either...
01sik
still a waste of time.......itll be slow
swap your skyline for a v-tec civic or integra or prlude or something
luxo-barge
sell. buy. problem solved.
dhand8
its all well and good taking it off, new computer, injectors ect... but it will run like puss.
the car engine was tuned with a turbo, taking it off will make it lag,
presuming more fuel consumption as well
180josh
buy a non turbo RB20.. whack it in and away u go (need ECU and maybe loom). .
wouldn't cost you more then a grand. .
Pretty sure its legal for p plateer's as well. .

BTW. . there was a massive thread about this in the general section not long ago

Im unsure about the whole turbo situation. But as previously stated by someone, im pretty sure you cant do a conversion to an NA anyway, as it requires a mod plate, and thats a no no for new P platers. Feel free to correct me if im wrong.

lol..

it will run slow but fine without the turbo... these nut jobs have no clue....

take it off...

ecu and injectors DO NOT NEED TO BE CHANGED

as the engine has not changed no mod plate is required. keep your cat and use a factory air box

block the factory oil lines with oil bungs found on the RB30E engine in VL commdores and R31 skylines (some engines have them, others dont. most will tho)

put an RB20DE manifold and front pipe on (this will be hard to find...)

use an RB30E intake pipe and air box and it should look factory

yes the engine will only make about 110 kw at the fly and have less guts than an r31 or a VL but you will still have larger brakes than an N/A and LSD that an n/a wont have... and when you are off your plates u can just bolt all the gooodies back on smile.gif

DO NOT BUY AN N/A ITS NOT JUST THE TURBO YOU DONT GET.
DK_THE_DETAILER
honestly why oh why would you bother possibly the dumbest threads ive seen on here is P platers buying cars they know they cant drive and de-modifying them take turbo off any turbo car in my opinion and it will go slower than that model in N/A trim. just sell it and buy something you can drive shouldve considerd it before you made the purchase no offence just my two cents
Cheddle
WTF.... power is not everything about the car... a turbo r32 will corner, stop, skid and feel better than a non-turbo r32... not to mention that going turbo-> N/A is HEAPS easier and cheaper than going n/a->turbo or even n/a-> lsd, brakes, suspension and then turbo...
dungadatto
why you'd buy a turbo car when you know you cant drive it i have no idea
sell it
and in a few years buy a gtr
michael_90
haha lol it use to be everyone wantin to whack a turbo on an n/a now its everyone wanting to get rid of it ,, ffs just buy an N/A when your on your p's and sell or just buy another turbo when your off them ... the moderator of this forum should stop theses stupid threads

Clinton O.
just put an rb25 neo in it. not like cops will know. or just bolt a 25 head on it so the block has all the same numbers.
MR-05-SS
or buy a commodore???
Clinton O.
