Full Version: V8 Drifting

hey guys just looking for an opinion, usig a v8 for drifting i know that there is a red hatch back and also a s13 with a toyota v8 they go will with the small track at parky but struggle at bigger places like QR. jsut wondering wat your thoughts are on it and how u could make it work. Super charger? turbo?

Gent up here in the NT using a XD for drifting, apparently pretty good as well.

the "red hatchback" aka josh youngs ae86 struggles at QR? more the car then the engine, short wheel base = good on small tight track, longer base is good for faster longer corners

just wat i heard... but i think it would be a c*nt to find a supercharger for a toyota v8 there isnt much around..

if you've ever watched the united states drifting series (formula D) you would notice a fair amount of V8s participating, rhys millen has won it in a pontiac (holden) monaro atleast once i know of. they've also had a porsche participate and he wasn't to shabby.

but yeah they have a few V8s and they do pretty well.

LS1's are a good engine to stick in a small car they weigh less than an rb26, have a look at this video...

dont think u would struggle at all. seen a few lexus 4l charged soarers around.
i think u would be better of usin a boosted six for drifting. i love v8's but i love turbos at the same time lol. guess wot sort of throttle response your lookin for and alll that bullshit

There are literally shitloads of options around for blowers, there are off the shelf manifolds easily available.
Personally I'd go TT as it's already a torquey engine. Twin disco potato's, replacing the intake manifold (stock is terrible for boosted performance) and you'd be set.
