Been done, and sucessfully too. But its not easy.
Many will remember the silver EB drifiting back in the old sunday arvo drift comps, and doing quite well. Was running a 1jzgte. He had done a fair bit to suspension too. Unfortunatly i dont know the man or where he dissapeared too, So im really no help at all..

I remember the one
Silver eb 1jzgte r154 gearbox single turbo (from memory) and had a dry sump
i think he said he had to go dry sump to clear the ford crossmember
he was a pretty cool bloke
certanly loved his fords he said he's spent $25000 to get it to where it was at
i remember the hit it wasn't bad but i havent seen him since
good luck with it
if you want to do it cheap
chop the springs, weld the diff and hd clutch
some may remember the white U-pull it spares eb drifter that went to mallala all up the boys spent $1000 went ok i guess. ill find some pics

An Auto will make life very difficult. Chances are the auto will start to fail when you start making it do work, and the six's in EB's have a tendancy to blow headgaskets when they get stressed. VERY much doubt King springs are going to do the job when you start throwing a heavy car around at speed. Dont want to rain on your parade..but it depends how serious you are. Getting something like this to drift (..and slide nicely to some extent) is going to cost $$ despite what others say. Perhaps talk to a workshop like Opt 1 garage or similar who deal alot with QLD drift and see if they can direct you somewhere.

pffft ive drifted alot of early e series falcons, all u need is a low rear some form of diff lock or good lsd. some clutch and ur on ur way. skylines and silvias arnt the only drift car .

Jan 19 2009, 06:50 PM
No, sorry mate. Not familiar with what other manufacturers engines fit falcons. You can make anything fit if you've got the cash and time

Just being 'low' is not going to do to much. And his EB is an Auto.. so a clutch is somewhat pointless.. suppose you could hang it off the rear tow hook or something..

well its not like he wants to spend thousands on settin it up cus idealy u would buy a skyline or something simal cuss it would be a better start, i could hang my old el sideways liek all hell, given it was a manual

Hi
Not every drift car has to be a 180 or skyline, just gut some weight out of it fit a locker, 5 speed and go nuts. Engines for falcons are cheap and so are bodys (if you stack it) so dont be scared and see what you can come up with.

get the engine out of the newer XR6 turbo modle and a manual box and some whiteline gear and u will b on ur way
Sneaky1
Jan 22 2009, 09:40 PM
you got to gut the hell out of it. either replace engine eithr xr6 turb or turb the engine. can be done without but yea better to get the extra power. manual conversion and a mini spool fitted. i previously had an auto ef with mini spool and the diff makes a hell of a difference. then its to gettin suspension sorted. needs to be stiff. i think pedders make coilovers now for em so try them and see what you can get and tell em what they are for.
beNNie45
Jan 24 2009, 07:11 AM
ok cool ill do that with the coilovers how much you think they will be
wat sort of xr6 turbo engine should i get

id also sugest au enigine manul trans locker diff and most of al change the diff gears

i think the coilovers are approx 1.5k from pedders. dont quote me on that.
well if i was you i would go to an auction and pick up a written off ba xr turbo. then you have everything. motor box loom donor tailshaft you can mess with etc

deff right about the gears. maybe go 4.11's cause the stock 3.08 isnt the best.mine now can be thown around but the gears are to long which dont bother me as its a daily and not used for that.
to be honest i would just service the eb and use the rest of the money and buy a cheap 32 and drift that. that would be a cheaper option and you still have a tow car to boot.

Definantly check out the boosted website (my sig is linked) there is a few people that go to drift events.
A member there 'Rollin' has a good car, the ED mentioned above

Another user had a EA with Nitrous and 4.11 gears (IIRC) that had no trouble stepping out...

It wil take a bit of work but yer its possible
Best things you could do is strip it, try and get as much weight out as you dont need all that excess moving the center of weight around as you drift... (center of weight? i dont know if thats what i mean but like you dont want weight transfering to badly)..
Cut springs are ok for starters i suppose, if you get serious def. get some coil overs for it, and look into any other steering racks that fit which will give you more lock (Could speak to someone like Fulcrum for this)...
Chuck a manual in it, rebuild the LSD, HD Clutch... The stocko 6 with a bit of work would be fine for smaller tracks like Archie i would say, but yer you would want more grunt for QR...
Just give it a go, there was a Auto AU Red falcon ute at archie a few months ago... He was a bit of a bogan having his stereo cranking Tokyo Drift every la he went (as ya do?) but didnt actually do a bad job considering
