Wow, stunning water shots. Number 5 really does it for me, as does number 2.
What are you playing with if you dont mind me asking?
mr_squiggle_1
Jan 6 2009, 11:22 PM
Well my gear consists of a 40D gripped, Canon 70-200 f4 IS L, Sigma 10-20mm, Sigma 17-70mm & a Canon 50mm f1.8.
Nothing extremely flash but it suits me perfect, could have spent alot more!

S15? Springbrook?
If your talking about the s14 that's my old car... sold it to leave for Japan on the 16th of this month! Photos were taken down at the park near my home, in Brisbane.

Nice HDR's. The perspective on the first feels a little warped for some reason to me..

Very impressive! Going to have some mint subjects in Japan to capture

Totally agree with Nick on the perspective of that first HDR though.
mr_squiggle_1
Jan 7 2009, 05:18 PM
Yeah, its at 10mm on the Wide angle... tends to warp the picture a fair bit. I kinda like it, kinda dont...
I have been told the Canon 10-22mm doesn't have as much barrel distortion? The sigma is pretty bad at it.
I can't wait for Japan! its going to be freaking awesome!!

Psshhh from what I've read the sigma rides the canon in every aspect especially price..
Sigma review:
http://www.ephotozine.com/article/Sigma-10-20mm-f4-56-EX-DCCouldn't quickly find a Canon review but I've read in a UK mag the price difference isn't even worth considering.

Dude what are the white things in the tree?
Well basically what happens is people go in to the temple, take a lucky dip at fortune notes, read them then tie them onto a tree outside the temple so in theory these fortunes will then come true.

I think they just need a bit of contrast in them, them seem 'flat' to me. But i assume you dont travel carrying a copy of photoshop, I know I don't.

The 2nd and 6th photo's are my pick mostly the 2nd. Definitely need more Japan pics so badly want to go myself, I will one day. And even though this is an extremely late comment the 350 shot at Archy in your first post is all kinds of hotness it's perfect.

Looks like your doing alot of the stuff I've done. Kyoto was a great place to visit.
Are you going to Hiroshima? I highly recommend it simply due to the cities history.
Have fun!

Numbers 1, 3 and 9 are my favourites.
No 1 - Im loving the simple colour in this photo with the sun's reflection off the building, reminds me of something out of sim city. In my eyes the reflection can be a little distracting but i think it can work with or without the light.
No 3 - The theme is good, a good shot for this i think would have been straight on at the guys level, showing people walking past horizontally going about their daily routine while he sleeps, but due to that pole on the left it's a bit difficult. Colour looks a little bland though.
No 9 - I like this alot aswell, nicely framed, not much else pulls me away from wheel

Good work mate

Feb 11 2009, 11:16 PM
Thanks for the compliments. The guy sleeping was a sneaky shot as I walked past... haha. Came out better then I had ever hoped.
I have some from Hiroshima & Kobe to post... will get that done tomorrow. Fire away with the C&C too, every little bit helps.
