So how do you do it?
At the moment, I do lightroom 2, then into CS3 then save, still wondering if it's worth the effort of using LR2.
Opinions and what do you use?

Lightroom is amazing.
I'm yet to get the watermarking add-on working, but it doesnt really bother me. It's so easy for mild PP and cropping and adjusting and archiving.

Lightroom 2.2 is my first port of call for every photo i take and i edit all my motorsport stuff using it.
CS3 comes out for static car stuff when i crack the flashes out.

Photoshop CS4.
Forget about Lightroom and Aperture, CS4's raw processor is quicker and more powerful.

I have apple aperture, lightroom, photoshop cs3 and capture one.
Best conversions go to capture one BY FAR. Aperture is second best at low ISO, but worst at high ISO. LR and cs3 use same raw converter which is frankly horrible - rapes detail and texture in files and pisses me off to no end. Very good with high iso stuff though.
Aperture is 10 times the program that LR with file organization and library structure - absolutely leaves it for dead.

Might be a stupid question, but I'm still gonna ask it. Aperture - available for PC? I'm assuming not, because it's Apple software. (can't they just get along?)

Nah I really can't judge Apple or its products. I used one back in school but thats about it. I know from word of mouth from people that use them at work, and just general conversations that they are excellent media (still and video) editors. I got an Apple TV tho

Mac's biggest issue is being 100% proprietary. They can charge what they want and users will buy because it's all white and aluminum and wanky etc..
Mac is x86 based these days anyway so you can install OS X on PC, soon enough you'll be able to run OS X shit in Windows and Windows on OS X. Apple are in the meld of fucking with Windows API's etc.. but Msoft isn't playing the game and giving up their code so Apple are having to reverse engineer it all.
It's noooot a tuuuuuunaaaaaa.

Look at it this way. I would liken the comparison between your run of the mill dell/HP PC/laptop to an iMac/macbook as the difference between a non USM Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 and a canon 24-70mm f2.8L.
One is noisy, clunky, poorly built, poor ergonomically, but can pretty much achieve the same results as the canon, when it's actually working.
The other is smooth, whisper quiet, beautifully designed and built, 100% reliable and can be depended on to work every single time without fail.
Also to the dude quoting the price on the 24" iMac, just go that 20" - it's basically the same computer and is substantially cheaper. Also if you're in education (Uni/Tafe) look into an education discount - usually a couple of hundred $$.

I dont think the IMACS are over price, as you get the awesome monitor with them, but thats the thing its stuck with them.
for 2.5g you can build a weapon PC for that and i have done that. Its the laptops that i really want. mac book pro is an amazing machine but at 3.5K-4K i cant justify it even though there is no equivlent to it.
But saying that my MSI Wind 10inch netbook worked wonders at bathurst 12 hour when connected to a good screen and that cost me 600$ but saying that it has been overclocked to 2.1ghz and has more ram. Ran lightroom fine with around 7000 raw files (40d sized) in the catolouge had about 2gb of hard drive space left on it at the end of the weekend.

Quick question... I've got LR2 and CS4 and was wondering how you put a watermark on?
Or do you design it with a different program?

I find it interesting that you find apple computers "wanky". As a person with creative hobbies like photography I would have thought that you'd appreciate an aesthetically pleasing/well built design rather than a beige box.
