Static car shots - no monopod, no tripod unless using slower shutter
Monopod head - best is the manfrotto tilt only head, converted to suit RRS clamp and plate setup.

the best monopod setup i saw was a dude at oran park with a 400mm f2.8 it had like a video camera ball head that was so loose you would still have to support alot of the weight... but it really helped with freedom. I think this is esential because you never pan on a perfect horzontial axis...
