Lets face it, The IT section is dead.
I just bought myself the PSB speakers, 'Alpha pack 1' and I also got my Denon 1508 AVR. I wired up 22m of speaker cable to my 5.1 speakers and the guys at work gave me an optical cable.
NOW, Tomorrow I'm going to buy a couple of HDMI cables but for tonight, would someone like to tell me if this optical cable will work? I can't get any sound at the moment, So I'm trying to work out if I just have to switch optical cable ports or maybe I have the positive/negative wires wrong?
I'm new to this whole AV receiver/proper speaker set up and the manual is confusing.
Thanks guys!

Positive and negative wires won't change anything with speakers. Are you plugging this into a PS3 or DVD?
If it's PS3 you will need to set the video input to "composite (just for now)" and sound input to optical.

I'm plugging it into my Samsung 32" LCD. Why doesn't the Positive/Negative matter?

Do you know how speakers work? If so you should understand why is doesnt matter.

Im assuming the running the optical audio from the TV to the receiver. Make sure the receiver is not set to zone 2, then it should be something like set-up, sound configuration, TV then set the sound to optical port 1 or similar depending on your receiver. TV to receiver should be the only use for the optical cable as when you get the HDMI's that will suffice for the PS3.
