Ford should've received parity fix
No change on the cards for Holden

A neutral source to Holden and Ford has suggested the Falcon V8 Supercars were the ones which should have had a parity adjustment in their favour.

It comes off the back of a request from Holden parties for a parity adjustment in the Commodore team's favour.

The request has been with V8SA since July, after the Queensland Raceway round of the 2008 Championship.

V8 Supercars Technical Director Andy Bartley presented a recommendation to the V8SA board at its October meeting, advising no change for the remaining four rounds of the Championship.

"With the race at Phillip Island, if you look at the five fastest laps four cars were Holden, one was Ford," said Bartley.

While a final decision was not officially announced at the time of deadline, V8X understands that Holden's parity change request was knocked back.

The neutral source said technical data like the data from Bartley's report showed a parity adjustment should have actually been made in Ford's favour.

"Maybe if there's disparity the Holdens should be slowed down," the source said.

But with only three rounds of the 2008 championship to go and the debut of the new FG Falcon next year to compete against the VE Commodore, it's safe to say the parity issue is now dead and buried - at least for this year. - BG
