Is it possable to fit a SR20DET into a R31 skyline and if not any other motors besides a RB25

I think you would be mad trying to put a SR20 into R31, why not just go for the RB20?

It would be cheaper to but and RB in since its a straight bolt it(all RB's have the same bolt pattan dont they??) since you dont need custom work done.

depending on how much money you wana spend i would stay away from the RB20 in all cases and go the RB25 or RB30. then you get into the hybrid engines but thats a whole new facter.

a half cut is the whole front of the car cut of. all half cuts should some with engine gear box ECU engine mounts and everything else u see in the engine bay. some half cuts come with shocks brakes and hub etc and body panels.

PM about half cuts

do up the rb30 in it! mass power. Spend the money you would usually spend getting whatever rb20/25/26 sr20, on the rb30. Buy the turbo injectors/ecu off vlt, bolt on a stupid turbo, lower compression, 24psi, blow it up, then start again. Seriously but, rb30 makes mass power, big capacity. Better off doing up what you have than buying a new engine... your rb30 platform means you've saved half the money

1UZ-FE ftmwf!!!

But if u want turbo, dont put an RB20 in, done to death... go rb26detttttttttttttttttttttttttt and yes, i meant that many turbo's!! tongue.gif

im doing a rb30 convsion to a pintara
if i could go back and start agen i would go the ca18det
they are the lightest of the bunch and with a little work they kick ass
light weight lots of revs thats what u wont for a drift big

dont waste your time with conversions if your new to modding your R31, stick to what was designed for the car, therefore weight/balance etc of the car doesnt change dramaticly, simply use the $$ you have now to do a decent turbo setup to your rb30 that i assume is in it now and learn to feel the car properly before you go messing with conversions, basically in my opinion a good rb30et is more ballsy for drifting than a rb20det in a r31...

but as mentioned above visit our site at - forum.r31skylineclub.com / for great info on anything about your r31

my two cents anywho.

yeah mate keep the rb30 and mod everything out bored, stroked the whole box and dice thumbsup.gif except the head replace that with an rb26 head (for the DOHC) and they are just better and big power can be made with that combo tongue.gif but that is just my opinion, just don't rice it laugh.gif
i should probably stop giving my plans away oopsie.gif

a mate is selling a sr20de if u want that then just turbo it

pm me if u want it
wooley
if u hve the 30 turbo it heaps of parts available. n it isnt 9g 4 rb20 engine will bolt up to standered kframe i believe

Sr20's would have no trouble bolting in and moving a r31. My sr20 c33 laurel is quite fast and responsive, siprisingly so considering the shell its pushing around. Use a s13 crossmember, all the front steering and brake hear from a s13 and use a s13 dump and front pipe to bolt up to ur existing cat and exhaust. Handling is the biggest bonus in a conversion like this. Good luck whatever you decide.

I forgot to mention, my original motor was a modified rb20det. The laurel is rediculessly faster with the sr20det now. Both motors had similar breathing mods. Go either a sr20det or any of the rb engines, except the rb20det. Rb20det's lack a wide torque curve and that makes them a shit engine to drive. This is stock to mildly tuned that I'm talking about.
phillo89
its personal opinion but u could do a FJ20ET, stroke it to a 2.4ltr and turbo it and it would shit on a sr for power and would have less turbo lag aswell

ca18 the lightest? wtf. anyone got the weight of a ca and an sr? thought an sr would be heaps lighter being all alloy and ca being made of old boat anchors.
skindoe
Ca18 and sr20 have bugger all difference when it comes to weight. The fj20 is a great motor, just very hard to maintain due to the age and associated costs. Also, sr20's are in plentifull supply and cheap. By the fact he is doing up a r31, im assuming that he has budget constraints.

Also the aftermarket support for sr20's is borderline crazy. Same could be said for rb25's and rb26's too.

skindoes laurel is a testament to how well sr20's go in big cars, and it's not a difficult conversion at all. there would be roughly the same amount of effort in the 31 as doing the conversion into a laurel and it took 2 days start to finish and the end result is it easily keeps up with my 226kw/atw rb25det powered laurel!
Be different and go the sr.
