Do not go seagate or maxtor

Go western digital (WD) or Lacie

yeah saw 1TB WD @ officworks 200$ or 750GB for 169$
poita
Lacie external drives have one of the highest failure rates i have ever seen.

and what ever you do don't use it on a Mac

i just use cheap ones of ebay 150$ for 1tb, i back up every week so its not a massive deal if it shits itself.

Seagate is good..Nothing wrong

gamedude.com.au

price is way better then wow jbhifi etc

Their prices maybe good, but their service is some of if not the worst. They have the worst reputation amongst the computer scene.

msy, umart and the likes are much better

but you cannot get good customer service from stores run by nerds, its a known fact.

i went to umart a couple of months ago, and yeah, the customer service was horrible! did i care? no! i got a bloody good price on my shit, and you cant expect nerd stores to have good peope skills tongue.gif

Had my 120gb external for just over a year, used it between my PC and Mac, been kicked, tossed, dropped, wet and it still works.

Haha yea I learned that the hard way. I got a 120GB Maxtor external hard drive. It sucks ass. For some reason it makes my computer slow. Getting a 1 TB soon

Went to hardley normans today at valley, get him to match the price on the western digital elements external hdd, theyve got it for 219, i just got mine from there for $182. actually worked out about 5 bucks more than buying a hdd, and a seperate case.

bought to upgrade my WD mybook 500gig, as it was chockers, and iv emptied the crap off it half a dozen times,
still works a treat too,

Best? Drobo with 4 1tb drives in it and the NAS adapter.

Most economical is a cheap external caddy with a 1tb drive inside, and another sitting nextdoor
Croma
im running 3tb in 2 external enclosures on my Lappy ATM, works a treat!

i agree with everyone, stay away from Maxtor!

and Gamedude has worse service than MSY? i don't think sooo!

as far as in store service goes, id say, Umart, then Gamedude then MSY, from best to worst...

But they are all cheap as chips, and i love them all hahaha

91 silvia style
maxtor are by far the worst hdd's on the market...
western digital and seagate are on par really, but the seagate 1tb drives seem to have a fault as a number have been returned doa... although the seagate drive have a 32mb cache rather then the wd 16 mb...

somthing to think about...
