ok i am just starting in the whole drift scene i have a s13 silvia non turbo, (plans to turbo later)
just want to find out what the deal is with suspension, people talk about coilovers, front and rear caster rods, traction arms, sway bars.
can some one break it down or point me in the right direction. thanks

Those items you mentioned will get you on the right track.

Coilovers will allow adjustment of height, spring pre-load and damper rates (Depending on type). The biggest difference is they will stiffen your car up to no end, allowing the vehicle to be more predictable during a slide. Will also help to reduce bodyroll etc.

Castor rods are only applicable on the FRONT of the vehicle. They allow you to pull the front wheels forward, this will help the steering wheel self centre and reduce understeer.

Traction rods Dont bother, setting them up correctly takes time and effort.....they tend to only get used in top level drift. You certainly wont need them to learn.

Sway Bars are an awesome bang for buck modification, they will reduce bodyroll, and again make the vehicle more predictable.

Limited slip diff is a MINIMUM requirement for drift. There are 3 main options, weld it ($100 bucks for someone else to do it), shim it ($100 for someone else to do it) Or get a mechanical type LSD. this is the most expensive, but also the best option. New they cost $1100, second hand can be purchased from as little as $500.

best respone ever by Team IBP, been down the same road myself, coilovers diff and rear camber arms (to get the rear wheels close to 0 degrees) is all i needed to get it going well, alot of ppl dont say it but big rims with very grippy tires on the front do amazing things for handaling
