Does anyone know the differance between the two standards? Iam told that my helment purshased 3 years ago with the sticker on it (AS1698) is now not ANDRA compliant. This is a section of the ANDRA minutes dated 4/9/08 ( Helmets: SQ Division council have had significant queries from racers regarding the inability to purchase helmets from retail outlets with the AS1698:NZS2006 sticker on them. Including helmets manufactured in 2007.)

my helmet says as 1698 also an my mate said he can get me a helmet that says as-nzs 1698

this is the new ANDRA rules so if you are racing at an ANDRA event like willowbank then you must run the new nzs helmet.

bought one at cash converters for $80 so was pretty happy with that. but pull your cushioning out first and have a look inside on the foam as if it has SNELL logo then this overides the NZS code and is allowed.

If u can afford to build a car and race it, u can afford to drop $300 on a helmet.

It is bullshit as if you are racing a bike around a circuit or car or drifting you dont need to upgrade it is just for drag racing. Remembering that we still wear helmets and have cushioning on all roll bars. Where in drifting no roll cages are required, and bikes going around a circuit????? now tell me why its not bullshit. obviosly if you are in top door slammers or top fuel.. these guys are already in snell simpsons but in 12- 15 sec cars....

Its not about the money for the helmet as I stated I bought 1 for $80, its just funny that driving 400 meters i a straight line is considered more dangerous that any other style of motor racing.

Nice way to help kill the sport for the street day racers that would drive up there not knowing this rule then not be able to compete.
