if ur not going to weld at least use fibrebog. is half like fibreglass. alot stronger than normal bog but still. i would knock all the bog out and then weld little 20c coins in the tray whole. i did that on my courier. came up sweet. then a thing layer of bog to get it all even. gl wit it anyway mate. lataz.

All the lol's are aimed at the absolute shitness that now is your tray.
The input was you fucked it up and it looks like ass.
Solution? Take it to a beater, and once they stop laughing at you they will tell you that they will remove the obscene amount of bog, weld the holes up, and paint it. Really like you should have done in the first place. Oh and wait, here's the killer - it will cost you more now too because they are fixing the mistakes.
Well done!

i was just doing what a shaver told me to do. the rear reflectors are welded up, and so is the tailgate handle.
I thought the bog was to make it level with the car and then u paint it...
best way to get the bog off?
you guys know a place local to carindale that i can take it to?

paint will stock fine over bog mate but my opinion is to prime it before u paint so u cant get it really smooth. just use a hammer and chisel to get the bog out of the wholes and sand it off the rest of the tray. if u were on the gold coast i would give u a hand removing the bog but i aint got a welder anymore to weld it sorry. gl wit it thought buddy. at least it is built, not bought like most of these peoples car. ur giving it a go. thumbs up i say. Good luck

Dude your a dumb ass. No one said it was your fault that the bog looks like shit, untill you started getting on your high horse posting on here. Chill out a bit dude.
Andy if you need to remove the bog just hit it with a wire wheel or just sand it. The thing with bog is your not going to get it looking mint first time. So you will have to apply it a few times and build it up slowly. As for sand paper I would start off with say a 120 grit to knock the top off it and then go to a 400.
Hope that helps ya.

fuck, he's just having a go himself!
good on him
but the problem is that the bog is just sitting in the hole, and is not actually conected at all, so over time it will just fall out, whereas with welding it becomes part of the car, and when ground back and cleaned up it will be herd to see the difference, wouldnt weld a 20c coin as to many imputities, but along those lines.
basically the bog will look fine for a while, then the paint will crack around the edges, and evenfually fall out, and well it will look funny...
but fucking good on you for trying.
and start with a course paper like 400 or so, and then work down to 1200 wet and dry for best results and finish
remember the final rasult lies in the perperation

to my knowledge, you should always sand the surface back to bare where you applying the bog as it will slim the chances of it falling out/cracking, depends how deep they are it is an idea to fill it with some metal/solder does the job aswel.. then apply a proper bog, what i've seen sand it back with a 80, then apply another skim and sand it finer.. apply your putty/primer, then apply proper paint method on to that..

if that bog has been on there in the weather i would take it out and start fresh get a 9 inch grinder with some p36 and it will rip the bog right out ,
so im getting it is welded , good
you have put bog in , good
you knock the bog down with some p40 on a block to get a general shape , finish the bog off with p80 on the block (re apply bog if any low spots) , fill any pin holes with some fine bog filler and sand with p120,
grab a sander with some p240 and sand out the scratched around the repair , not the bog then you are ready for hi fill primer
ther is no need to go as fine as p400 for bog when you use a good primer

thanks for ur help guys, i only did one side just incase it was wrong. So the other side it still primed from when mex shaved the tie downs off.
But the other side, i sanded the primer off then bogged it. I know its a bit rough, but i figured it was just like fixing a hole in plasterboard....
ill sand the bog down for now...
My plan is to go turismo blue over white, so i need it boged n painted
kinda like this, wrong blue tho, and with a hard lid

but yeah...

good on you mate for having a go yourself. Most of the people bagging your job are the teenies who cant even pump up the tyres on their bmx without help.
You can also use spray putty to get a smoother finish, using a heavier grade paper like say 320, then do spray putty and use a much lighter grade, the finer the grade paper the smoother it will look :-) keep the paper wet so it wont clog on you. With spray putty, dont worry about runs etc, thats fine, it sands very easy :-) I am no professional but i have done jobs myself that turned out reasonably good

you have to be carefull when blocking with fine papers as it wont cut down high spots you will just smooth over them and have ripples in you panels
with a spray putty/bog you should not go finer than p320 and you need to prime over spray putty/bog, so any primer will fill p320 scratches with no problems
