An idea has been presented to the company I work for to make a Drift Hearse.
Now before we get overloaded with people comments, this is serious.
If you haven't guessed the company I work for is Hell Pizza.
I'm looking for advice and contacts in regards to this matter, I've been into this scene for a while so I don't need to be told how hard it's going to be to get angle on a Hearse or why would you do it. If you have some ideas I would love to hear them. The Hearse will most likely be a 70's model, either yeilding a 350 or a 400.
I'm trying to put together a list of potential sponsors. So far these companies have drawn my attention:
Penrite - Sin Oil
Demon Carbs
Red Devil Radiators
Khumo Red Drift Tyres
Rocket Industries
Obviously we will need paint & panel, suspension, etc.
Any ideas or suggestions would be great.
Cheers
Here is a couple of pics of one of our other Hearses.

Never say never unless you know a budget.. Which quite clearly you don't. I pressume you meant, you could never do it on your budget, or what you earn, ever. Go ruin someone elses post.

You might be able to put it sideways but you won't be able to successfully drift it . . . . . . . . not with that wheelbase!

Haha.. I don't think a budget could have any difference - There is no logical way of throwing something that big around successfully! Maybe a powerskid - Doubt a drifter..

As long as it can make lots of smoke and go around a curcuit thats all we want. If it technically does a burnout the whole track I don't mind, it's the crowd were after not the result. I can already get slight angle in the Galaxie, it's anything more than that that's a problem.

And if worse comes to worse, we will just go for the World's fastest Hearse record... again

why not a replicate a hearse? something more able to drift? shorter wheel base.. can't really think of anything in a wagon, but i'm sure you could build something up to replicate one but is able to drift..

just because you can, doesn't mean you should...
maybe make a replica hearse out of something else? a lighter wagon of some type?

Why would companies want to sponsor a drift car that can't actually get into a drift competition? If you want a burnout car then sweet, but its never going to be a drift car.

i say go with it that would be awesome, but yeh maybe not an actual hearse car, maybe like a corona wagon or something. but if you can make a hearse a possible drift car ill see if the boys at goodyear will want 2 help ya

As Above, will be incredibly hard with any budget to be a drifter. powerskids and burnouts etc, for sure though.
certainly will be different

And its that exact attitude which is why you will find it hard to get sponsors. Sponsors want a competitive car, something that produces results, not just a show pony odd ball. Eventually you will end up getting a name for yourself/the car and it wont be good. IF you were to do a hearse setup, it would need to be an adaption of something smaller than the Galaxy, a wagon of some sort, or even a custom built chassis setup (if its track only, and you have friends who are rod minded, it wouldnt be too difficult to create something).

Hey! I have an R31 Skyline wagon sitting in my back yard. If you put a decent power plant in it, make a few more mods here and there, pretty it up to look like a hearse, and Bob's ya Uncle.
Just like a Chinese prostitute, going cheap.

Sorry about the attitude, it just gets annoying when you make a topic and 5 minutes later it's filled with useless posts. I was thinking modified axles, major flares, huge offset rims. It would definantly be track only. The wagon idea is a possibility, could extend the rear and keep the same wheel base, as long as it can still fit a coffin in the back... and looks like a hearse. Initially the idea was just to go for the world's fastest hearse record again, but that's been done, over and over. We want to do something new, something fresh that hasn't been done before, as these are values we hold as a company. Any other comments on how we can achieve this would be great.
We would prefer to stay with Muscle, or maybe an old Crown wagon... It has to look the part aswell. Considering we have a Caddy, a Ford and a Buick, I'd say the likelyhood would be American (though personally I'd prefer jap.) Did the Japs make any Hearses?

Rear wheel drive a stagea and put a r34 gtr front end on it. weld the rear doors and lengthen the rear side windows to have the overall lets such luggage compartment that a hearse requires. chuck in some coilovers swaybars, more boost a zorst cooler and a few other gadgets here and there. some hearse spec chrome rails and bobs ya uncle. get sliding. you wont do it you're scared!! simple solution to the problem. already have provision to have a rb26 in them so i say do it.

itll work for sure, get the setup right and anything will drift, even a truck, good luck with it mate, i say go for it, if it doesnt end up working as a driftcar, u can always track it or use it at autosalon or something, just remember that it will be a croud pleaser, good luck mate

its pretty simple really all you need to do is stiffen up the rear suspension, lock the diff, make the rear end as light as possible, make the front end softer and make it dig in as much as possible (so that the front end is acting like the piviting point), try and make a bit more torque, get a stronger clutch, and stick on a set of zoomies (for that growl that a hearse from hell should make

)
gl with it i see the stiff hearse every time i go to get groceries
i rekon it would be an awesome project to work on

Just thinking of something different if you decide to shy away from the drift idea.
Fastest electric hearse????
All of the room in the back would provide plenty of room for a power supply.

i would say you need a heap of power, custom suspension set up cuz i dont think anyone does coilovers for the old girl. also steering will be a shit fight, power steering with a upgraded steering angle. strip the guts out and make it as light as you can haha
good luck with it mate can wait to see it side ways!!
also check out PSI at slacks creek good blokes might be able to give u advice.

If you have the budget you could basically build a chassis thats stiff as shit/plenty of lock/modify some super coilvers to deal with the weight.. I dont think power is an issue here. Weight distribution definately is. If you could lower the centre of gravity and control body roll, all thats left is power to weight.
What would be the lightest engine that could slide 2/3 tonnes around? 2jz with some big turbos and nos for lag??
If you make a chassis to drift and make a body (fibreglass anyone?) that looks like a hearse to sit on top it could work..
How big is your budget again?

you could get it to powerslide but man it would take a leviathan budget and a competent driver.
seriously, what about power skid at power cruise events and what not? throw a big block in it and do a few chasis tweaks and youve got something that can really make a name for itself.
lol @ all the hektik driftA's in here though

enough power and the right suspension setup + completely stripped you could drift that thing.
Bloody hard but could be done.

my best advice is look at what the swedes are doing. i believe they have done a drift hearse before mate. so go for gold. stitch weld the whole body for starters. she'll drift once she's stiff enough

oh also make sure the engine is sitting with most of its weight behind the front wheels. otherwise you'll have and understeer monster.
