Ok, So today I got a new wireless modem.

Browsing speeds = Faster.
Download speeds = Slow as fxck!.

I used to download through Flashget from Rapidshare with a premium account @ around 500kb/s.. Now all I'm getting is speeds upto 50kb/s..

The only thing thats changed is the modem, Has anyone had problems like this ? How did you fix ?.. Anyone with a solution, Please reply.

Dynalink RTA1025W/1046VW or one of the Netcome NB6+4W variants (thats one of the aforementioned Dynalinks rebadged, but with a longer warranty in some cases).

I dislike Netgear very much after every every wifi Netgear device I've ever owned (WGR614 x2 + WPN824) has failed, plus another 4? 5? owned by friends and family. Most of them have required constant hard resets once any sort of high ambient is reached - and by 'high', its pretty much anything over perfectly air conditioned 24oC.

All those devices have been replaced by either RTA1025W or 1046VWs depending on requirements (1046VW = 1025W + VOIP ATA) and havent had a single issue since.

Heres our workshop RTA1046VW:
QUOTE

Connect to Internet

Your DSL router is connected to Broadband and you can now surf the Internet.

Current Connection Status:
Online Time 47 days 22 hours 43 mins 45 secs
Data Transmitted 1858659312 bytes
Data Received 3597344160 bytes

EDIT: Oh and synched at: DSL Speed (DS/US) 20334/1021 Kbps

Thats almost 48 days of constant DSL connectivity biggrin.gif Let alone how long the routers been up for.

Oh and BTW if you're downloading over wireless, you'll be lucky to get 500kb/s as 802.11g is 54mbps maximum, but isnt able to send and receive at the same time so the fastest you'll get down is 27mbps. But the speed drops off exponentially once you start adding distance, so 54mbps is only (theoretically!) possible with the two aerials sticky taped together tongue.gif Add a wall or two and you'll be lucky to manage maybe 2-11mbps. And Netgear is NOT renowned for its wireless. Dynalink is wink.gif

Pro tip: Use ethernet cable wherever possible. Its well and truly worth the effort of running it.
