i keep getting a message when using IE asking if i would like to run scripts on the page. This happens on EVERY page i go to, and sometimes takes 2-3 clicks to get rid of it. Doesnt matter if i click yes, no or just close it, still happens.
Chris

In Interbutts Explorer (IE7), goto Tools (alt-t) / Internet Options / "Advanced" tab

Look for the 'Browsing' category, and make sure the following options are checked:
[X] Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer)
[X] Disable script debugging (Other)
And this option unchecked:
[ ] Display a notification about every script error

If you're using IE6, the options are similiarly named (and in the same location) although I cant remember what they are off the top of my head. Just look through the options until you find something close to the above.

Thanks for a serious answer. Checked and its already on those settings, any other ideas?

Ensure your Security level for Internet is set at its default? Tools / Internet Options / Security, click on 'Internet' and use the slider to choose 'Medium-high' (if you click on 'Custom Level' at the bottom, you can choose Reset custom settings to Medium-high (default), and hit reset to be sure)

If its still giving script errors, I'd start tracking down malware/spyware. Scan with http://www.safer-networking.org (Spybot Search & Destroy) and http://free.grisoft.com (AVG Free) to start.
GTRwilson
i reset the security settings and that seems to have fixed it. Also ran that spybot search and destroy anyway and its fixed a few others things aswell so thanks for your help. thumbsup.gif

EDIT: most annoying virus of all is still here...

The trouble with answering every browser related query with 'get ff mangs' is that it doesnt fix the underlying problem.

Sticky taping a new browser over the top might let you trawl the interbutts again, but since IE is such an integral part of the Windows OS, who knows what sort of slowdowns and stability issues the poster is experiencing otherwise?

Also, FF is not necessarily better than IE. And Chrome is shit. Stop acting like a crazed Mac fanboi.

Okay okay, its not that great, but tis not bad. Firefox is slow as hell when i start it up on my shitty old laptop, its opens decently quickly, but then it takes a while to recognize ive pressed the address bar ect.

Also the spellcheck is shit.
